Currently rolling with "Hot-Rod" look....need HELP ASAP with install of rear shocks..
Ok...so last night my buddy comes over and we start out to tackle installing some maxspeeds and tokicos. The front was pretty easy. Got both sides done in a just a couple hours.
However...here is my problem...
Obviously, I do not have an air lift....so I am working with the car on jackstands.
We tried for forever to break the bolt loose that hold the bottom of the shock to the axle (driver side...didn't even get to passenger side). I don't have any way to get the car high enough to get completely underneath, so I am trying to do this sitting next to the car. You have to use a breaker bar, as a regular socket wrench is not long enough to get enough leverage. But, with using a long breaker bar, the angle is so weird the it will not hold the bolt tight enough (slips off).
Anyone that has experience with this, please tell me how you did this please...
Any help is much appreciated..

Use a foot long thick metal pipe and a craftsman ratchet. The pipe will give you the extension and leverage you need. The ratchet has to be craftsman because if/when you break it, you can take it back and get another one. Overall it shouldn't be that difficult. For me the front shock towers bolts at the bottom were the hardest to break loose.

Everything is done now (thanks for all the advice)
I am VERY happy. Rides good, not too harsh, MUCH better road feel, and NO body lean anymore.
A porsche and I had some fun on my way to the airport this evening....the most fun I've had in my max....period.

Do you have to first call Craftsman or something?
Also, did you have to have your receipt when you got a replacement?
I'm willing to bet money that not very many people out there still have a receipt for the old Craftsman ratchet they bought 5 years ago.
Thanks for your input!

Big NO on all your questions.
Bring in any Craftsman handtool and they replace it no questions asked. It doesnt matter if you were using your ratchet as a hammer, your screwdriver as a prybar, or your socket in your 15 ton press, as long as its a craftsman handtool, they replace it, no receipt needed, no calls beforehand, nothing!

Craftsman is the best as far as replacing tools. I took a 3/8 in. ratchet into sears because I shattered the internals changing my springs. Even though the ratchet was about 25 years old, they didn't even bat an eye.
