P1320 Code
P1320 Code
Just got back from AutoZone. My 2k SE has been misfiring. They pulled one code P1320. But it did not discribe it saying to "Check your owners manual. DTC Manufacture Specific." Does anyone know what this is? I have been leaning toward a bad coil but I disconnected each coil and didn't notice any difference in the idle between any of the six. I'll go to the dealer if I HAVE to.

Looks like one of the coils went bad. You should have the second code specifying which cylinder is misfiring, then you can replace faulty coil.
I believe that there is a TSB on this. And if your car is still under warranty, and fits the TSB requirements, then you probably can get it fix for free at the dealer. Let me know.
Good luck.
I had the same problem when I first bought my 2K SE. It was an ignition coil. Like Tesar said, my car also had another code telling me which cylinder was misfiring. My car had 49K on it, but it was covered under the 3000/30 day warranty that the dealership gave me. P1320 is definitly a coil.
Try this link. It should answer some of your questions.

Also if your coils are bad the ECU should throw a code telling you which one is bad. Also if you need a new coil, call the guys over at Courtesy Nissan. They have the best prices and tell them your a Maxima.org member.
Good luck.

Thanks! The read out at AutoZone only showed one code and unfortunately I am at 39k so I am out of warranty. I'll have to do some more investigating before going to the dealer. Thanks Again.

My suggestion ,if you want to try it, is to buy 2 new coils (1 front and 1 rear (they are different)) and then place it in each cyclinder to find out which one is misfiring. It will cost you around $90 to $100 dollars for both coils from Courtesy Nissan (the cost of the diagnostics alone). Even after the dealer finds the problem, they will probably charge you an arm and a leg to fix it. If its the coil, I saw a TSB that may help you get the dealer to fix it for free, but thats hit or miss with dealerships. I fixed my problem before I had a chance to check out the TSB. The risk of trying my suggestion is that it may not fix the problem and you may have to end up taking it to the dealership anyway. I found my problem luckily and learned how to change my coils and plugs in the process. You choice. Good luck.

Both places turned the ignition key to the on position, but I wonder if it would have made a difference if the engine was running. At this point I have an appointment with the dealer on Monday. But would rather replace the coil(s) myself. Any thoughts how to save $90 just to find which coil is bad? Thanks
