Brakes are gone. PLEASE REPLY!!!

It appears that my brakes are on their way out. They are making noise and I'm getting vibration through the steering wheel as well as the pedal. Has anyone had to take their 2002-2003 in to the dealer for this yet? Someone told me that it may be the rotor(s) as well. Should this type of repair, along w/ new pads be covered under warranty? If not, how much am I looking at having to spend?

it's surprising that in those six hours you have yet to use the search function....because there's only what, like 40 threads a day about brakes in this forum?

Like so many other issues regarding bandwidth on this site, it would take me easily another 6 hours to use the search function without it timing out. I have long since given up on that.

Re: Brakes are gone. PLEASE REPLY!!!

Noise while braking most likely means new pads are in order. Vibration felt through your steering wheel as you brake points to rotors which will either need to be tuned or replaced. The warranty on these items are usually short as they are considered wear-and-tear items, but you might be lucky with some dealer service departments.

Nissan rotors are generally not known to be all that great. Replace them with 3rd-party rotors like Brembo. For pads, I have replaced my rears with Bendix Import Quiet pads, and have not had any problem with those. Your front pads may still be good as those seem to last a lot longer than your rear pads.

There's going to be a group deal on 5th gen Brembo rotors (zinc-plated blanks, cross-drilled, slotted, cross-drilled/slotted or dimple/slotted) from fellow .org member AuToMaX_95 later this month. You might want to check with him if this will include '02s/'03s since his last group deal supported only up to '01. '02/'03 rotors are a bit different than '00/'01, I believe. ('00/'01 rear rotors are the same as 4th generation rears while their fronts are unique for those two years)
