Tire ? - Falken ZE512

I know it is the middle of July and all, but I am planing ahead a bit...

The tire I have on my Max right is the Falken Azenis ST-115 in 225/45ZR17. The tire runs great, if a bit loud, until they hit snow...then the Max is no better then a sled...

Now, I bought this tires on the notion they were true all-season tires. They aren't. If I buy new tires without going to 18" rims (I would, but there are quite a few mods left to do ) I want to get them in a 50 profile to improve the comfort factor a bit. Unfortunately, 225/50R17 tires are hard to find in a all-season/performance combo.

So, finally getting to the meat of the matter, one of the tire I keep seeing is the Falken ZE512. It comes in the appropriate size and claims M&S capabilities. In 50 profile, the load rating is a tad lower than recommended at 90W but other than that these look like good tires. I am looking any snow season experiences - especially bad ones.

The other route open to me is to re-mount the 16" rims in the winter time. However, while our winter conditions can get questionable, Southern Indiana is not known for feet of snow and I think this route might be a bit much.

Sorry for the re-post of a question I know I have seen...search is SO taken for granted

I am currently riding on 235/45/17 in the Falken 512's. So far so good, and I plan on running them through a Northeast Winter.

I just put the ZE512 on my car. It seems to be a good all season tire.
The side walls are a tad soft for my taste but they handle in the rain ok. Don't know about snow yet. I doubt you will do much better in the 225/50/R17 size for snow however. There just aren't many options. If you need a true snow tire, put something on the 16" wheels for winter. You won't find a tire that does the handling of a maxima justice while still giving you really good snow traction.

Agree totally with the performance/snow situation. I am merely looking for a tire that sees snow very occationally and being OK. This past winter, the Azenis were just shy of being useless.

Thanks for the input. Anyone else?
