how to remove airbag/horn cover?

anyone notice how easily the horn/airbag cover in the center of the steering wheel scratches on a 2003 maxima? I wonder if it is replaceable without having to get into the airbag system. anyone ever remove that cover?

I'd be afraid, VERY afraid of messing with that.

Looking at the ESM, it doesn't look hard to remove HOWEVER that cover seems to be integrated/combined into the airbag module. It doesn't look like something you can separate.

Any damage to the covering of the horn/airbag requires replacement of the airbag. Maybe a vinyl repair kit could mask anything you have...
