spring install - bumpstop questions

Is it necessary to trim bumpstop when only replacing springs? I thought this was only for replacing struts.

Ive been through the search function all morning and I cant find any good links to an install with pictures.. Can anyone post me a link or a really good write-up? Ive seen the link under the 'sticky' here and I dont know what is required for my install since Im only doing springs and not struts.

Thanks,

Jonathan

You springs should have instructions on what to do with the bumpstops.

they didnt have them - and let me tell anyone looking at this in the future that the two most important parts of this install are going to be a breaker bar(or impact wrench) and the spring compressor.
I went to Pep Boys and they only had one spring compressor left - the old one in the back that hadnt been used since 1931 - and it made my life pure H E L L. If I ever do this again, I'm driving around until I find a good spring compressor - even if I have to drive for an hour.

Now Im going to work on the fronts (had to take a break for a while) and Im not looking forward to this...

I had my H&R installed (for $150). After watching the mechanic work on my car for a couple of hours with the use of air tools, lift, etc......, i can't imagine the work that must be involved to do this in a laneway sitting on your a$$ with the car on jacks. It looked hard enough with all of the shop tools.

Good luck with the rest of your install.
