Installed springs - makes bad sound
Installed springs - makes bad sound
Please help me:
OK, I just installed my Maxspeed springs and its making a knocking sound from the front passenger's side when I go around turns. Everything looks tight and I used a breaker bar on everything.
What could be causing this sound? Is it okay to drive it or should I let off until I can look at it tomorrow morning?
Thanks for any help - I just want this to be over with and done right..
Jonathan

Do this..have someone in the car and you look at the spring as he turns the wheel all the way in one direction. Does the spring appear to "bounce"? If so, you need to take apart the assembly, make sure the spring is seated right on the strut and make sure that when you put it all back in, the strut mount is facing the proper direction..

So, it's a prob. w/the spring/strut install? B/c everytime I turn my wheel to the extreme left or right it makes a clunk type noise
i know ur problem
ive had this problem
and redone my sheet over 6 times
Take it apart again and this time make sure on the top hat the "OUT" if facing the same direction as the bracket on the bottom... Out should face out.. and visa verse

The upper spring perch must be clocked correctly. The work OUT is stamped on top of it. OUT must face twards the fender (out) or be in line with the lower strut mounting tab.
Also make sure you put the strut bearings in correctly. If you put them in upside down, there now garbage and your spring perch to upper mount has play in it.

Bad news - I cant get the spring/strut assembly out of the wheel well... its lodged up there pretty good - any ideas? i got it in there fine lsat night w/o problems.

two bolts out, three bolts off at top - i even compressed the spring in the wheel well(biggest PITA ever) and I cant push the strut up enough to clear the contol arm and pull it out. this is the first Ive ever heard of this after searching the forums...
tap on the three bolts on top with a hammer. make sure you tap on all three on a rotation so they will go down evenly. you should be able to push down the control arm at the bottom. just need a little force to do it. but it will move.
i actually only jacked up the one side of the car... is that what's doing it? That never even dawned on me this morning! steering was straight though
also, i can get the top of the top of the strut into the well, but the strut has no give to it at all, so i cant push up on it a little to maneuver it out

Just stand on your rotor and put all your weight on it. Since only one side is jacked up, it requires a ton of pressure. You also might need a friend to help.

Jack up the other side and it should be cake.

Killer,
Hows the 125? Ive been debating whether or not to get it. Any problems? How often do you use it/How long have you had it?
This will definitely be a good reference for those looking to do this install in the future - as a 'dont follow my footsteps' kinda post..
Thanks again fellas
Jonathan

125 definetly feels nice, but 91 octane wont do u any good. Ive only ran that shot about 5 times. The car boggles and goes into limp mode...(no power) i need to use race fuel..
had it for about 4-5 months or so and use it a few times a month...
filling up gets kinda expensive..and annoying
if u can, go for boost
