my 2k1 v.s. 2k2

i was driveing about 80mph when a blue 2k2 came up on me pretty fast . as he reached up behind me i waited for no traffic ahead and floored it. i slowly walked him and opened up the gap. by the time i looked down it read 115 mph and he was a couple car lengths back . then i hit my hazards and slowed down. now i know a 2k2 would beat me at a light but, the highway is a different story!!!!

I have had people in 2000/01 maximas do that to me too the thing is that I was in no way trying to race my car into the tripple digits it's just not worth it especially if it's not on the track. I don't go over 80mph on public roads maybe on the interstate with a rader detector in the car...just too reckless.

I would love to see some pics of your Maxima with the I30T wheels on it though!

he was doing at least 110 behind me! i bet his car was all stock.....i've driven many 3.5L maxima's and i beleive i could beat one on the highway with the mods i have.provided it was all stock. we have the same horsepower. i've beaten TL type s before too .same race ,same result!!!bytheway he was tailgateing me before i floored it.........

Perhaps with the mods you have you might beat an automatic 3.5, but most definately not a 6 speed.

Maybe it was too new like a 03 and he still braking it in. Doesn't want to floor and stuff. I've driven about every Maxima and trust me there is a big difference between the 2001 and 2003, I have first hand experience with them most of them.

87 maxima SE first car (kicked *** for my first car)
1992 VE 5-speed (current...love it)
1997 Maxima GXE (friends car.....quick with mods)
2001 AE SE (Nice kit and quick with mods)
2003 SE (fast w/ no mods)

A 2003 would own a 2001 on the freeway. He might have been having a spirited run with you, but he wasn't racing.

A modded 2k-2k1 will hold its own or beat a stock 2k2 on the highway, Pioneer proved that. I ran a 2k2 on the highway in my 2k with mods, we ran pretty close together and yes we were both on the throttle, hammers dropped.

hmm. im not buying it. your an auto and its all on reaction time. if you floor it and it takes him 2 seconds for him to realize what happened, of course you will win. show me a video of a 2k2 vs. modded 2k AUTO lined up on the freeway then ill believe it.

can you tell me why you think this is possible??? my car and a stock 2k2 have almost the same horsepower.the 2k2 has more torque but, it doesn't really matter at highway speeds........i'm not the only one to prove it either!!!!!!!! i won!i won! hahahaha!!!!!

Dyno slip please. Intake and exhaust don't put you anywhere close.

The only mods that would help an auto Y2K/2K1 beat an auto 2K2/3 Max is forced induction. I/H/E and pulleys on an auto Y2K may be enough to run low 15s but it wont be enough to make up for the VQ35's advantage.

How do I know: I had a run with what appeared to be an auto Y2k this past Friday on I287 here in NJ. In brief, I rolled up behind him (@ 75-80mph), he rolled to the right lane and I proceed @ speed. About a mile or two down the road (while @ 80mph) I see him rolling quickly towards me and I hold up for him. Once he got behind me, I proceeded to tear him a new one, pulling on him mercilessly.

Like Kloogy once stated in another thread, when comparing an auto Y2k and an auto 2K2 performancewise, its not even close.

Peace

what appeared to be a y2k auto max??? appeared to be? how do you know it wasn't all stock???? if a 2k2 raced a 2k00-1 max both cars stock the newer one would win hands down.my car is not all stock!!!!oh and a max with same mods as mine is roughly 186 at wheels compared to a 2k2 auto with roughly 185-190. pretty dam close huh? it is possible for a 3.0liter to run with a 3.5 on the highway and maybe even beat it!!!

(we're talking about stock 2k2 auto's...185-190fwhp) i'll admit a 2k2 6spd is faster but, unless you have a gsxr1000 your not faster.........unless you have turbo or nitros.....then again so could i?

I agree, it will take some pretty good mods even at highway speeds to keep up. My 01 was no were near my 03 at highway speeds with the mods I had on it and from a stop I dont even want to mention it.

no offense man...but i was also a nissan "tech" when i was only 18...

i started out as just a state inspector for the dyn/inspection system operator...and since i knew how to do just a few mild mechanic jobs..

i was then declared "tech"..

i drive a 2k3 6 speed...and ill tell you right now theres no way in hell a 2k1 is going to beat me on the highway automatic...unless its modded to high hell.

the other day i had some ******* in a BMW 5 series...he floors it next to me...starts pulling away...i drop it into 2nd at about 35/40...and pull on him a tiny bit...then had to let off cause of an idiot that dipped into my lane at like 20 mph. either way i woulda lost...but i still think thats pretty damn good for a 30k dollar car vs. a 50k dollar one

when i say i'm a tech. meaning i've driven evey maxima out there....... (and no i don't beat on customer cars)

i drive a 2k3 6 speed...and ill tell you right now theres no way in hell a 2k1 is going to beat me on the highway automatic...

it had to be a auto i raced because i know the result if it was a 6spd.but,i've beaten 95-99 moded max's though.
i love the new 3.5 but, i'm not going to take the bath on a trade.my car is paid for so i'll keep it.

Yep pretty sure my Hayabusa will beat the itsby bitsy 1000. If I had nitrous or a trubo, half throttle would do the job....

I think it was established long ago that a 3.5L 6-speed will beat a 3.0L 5-speed. As for 3.5L auto vs. 3.0L 5-speed, the 3.0 (with mods) wil come out on top at reckless freeway speeds.

Have you forgotten about the time you and I raced? All I had was an intake and UDP.

I have the opposite experiences with straight line racing. Corners you'd hand me my butt. But in a straight-Its all Busa. Oh yours is better for stunting too. Remember bench racing isn't always accurate and this is a good case. No other bike can match the hp and tq curve of the Busa.

Same as the Maxima story, no replacement for displacement-I have 300 more cc's. and .5 more liters in the Max. This is you after we race:

Where was this. I will run an 00-01 Auto with every bolt on from any speed and they don't stand a chance.

But what wasn't said was the 02 was stock and was shifting at 6k rpms. PIONEER has a quick car I have too give him that but if your trying too say a 00-01 auto will run with a 02-03 auto from any speed your crazy. One of my good friends in Charlotte has a 01 AE with every bolt on besides a rear section and its really no contest from any speed. Maybe we need a video too prove this

your a funny guy.............but seriously the busa is a bus, its ugly and not as quick as a gsxr1000.the 1000 weigh's 100 lbs less and is ten times better looking.also has quicker quarter mile and role-ons than a busa!! is all a busa can do to a GSXR1000!!i don't see any busa's in ama or wsb races???

looks are subjective. I like both. But the Busa is a straight line beats and the 1000 is a corner beast. Busas are not in the AMA b/c they are straight line runners. Look at this months Motorcyclist a STOCK Busa lowred only is good for a 9.4 1/4 mile. You light little 1000 would 12 o'clock trying to match that.

By the way I've raced many 1000s and the result is I slowly pull-And I weigh 250+ suited. You can still out wheelie me though

Not really related to this race, but do people know how fast newer Infinity G20t are?
This past Friday I was at the light in my dad's car, he has 99 Maxima Auto and this G20t takes off from the light so I was trying to catch up but he was just going and going. It was pretty slippery outside so I didn't want to floor the car too much because tires would spin like crazy.

Two things I found out that night: My dad needs new tires and G20t is not that slow

The G20's are pretty slow stock. That car is too much weight for the hobbled SR they put in them. He was probably modded well and it does not take much to open up a SR. You can literally add 30% more power at the wheels from headers and cams on the 5 speed.

I'm not saying I can beat an 02-03 max, but I'm sure I can hang with one on the freeway...
