Powerslot/Stillen CD Rotor....
Powerslot/Stillen CD Rotor....
Who has or had either Powerslot or the stillen CD'd rotors and have had them warp with normal driving ect... If they have warped but you do autocross thats somewhat understandable.
I want to get a good set of rotors for Daily driving and not have to worry about anything warping. Ive heard pros/cons about both but now want the facts of whos got what. The stillen CD looks the best but if they are gonna warp with normal driving I dont want non of that headache. Any Useful info is appreicated.
I want this thread as PW free as possible just to get info and get it locked when done with, if you can get by with just voting then please do so unless you feel the need to explain...
Thank You

Edit: Btw-if your rotors HAVE warped, please specify how many miles ect...

I have the Stillen Cross Drilled in the front of my 2K1 I do about 75% HWY and drive about 30K/YR. There is a big improvement with the CD vs stock, I had to have the CD cut after aprox 30K. Alot better than the stock rotors. I cannot comment on the Powerslot, maybe they will be next, but I expect to get around another 30K out of the CD first!

I have the drilled front and back for about 2k miles so far. I have no data on how they compare to the stock rotors. I bought them mostly because I believe the argument that they should improve stopping power. To be fair, I would have opted for the slotted had the GD started earlier (I got a good deal on the Stillen rotors). I believe the slotted should be better than the drilled. Hope this helps.
Re: Powerslot/Stillen CD Rotor....
I drive 35k/year, mostly highway. Don't race at all. After 2 warranty claims for 'judder', replaced stock rotors at 41k when out of warranty with Stillen CD & Metal Matrix pads. Things were fine for about 35k, when 'judder' started to come back. Milked things for another 4k.
Seems like everyone is having repeated problems, no matter what they use. Have seen some posts indicating it might not be warping, but something accumulating on the rotors, causing the 'judder'. All I know is that I am sick of the problem. I didn't buy this car to have to change brakes every 30k. This is the first car I've ever owned where I don't go at least 100k on a set of brakes. (BTW.... just changed rear pads at 81k and original OEM rear rotors were fine). While rears were being done, had my mechanic do fronts. Don't know what he used. I explained problems everyone has been having and deferred to his choices, though I asked him to NOT use Nissan OEM parts (I trust him based on years of prior experience with him.) Can't do much worse than have with the Stillen's or OEM. Thought I'd take a shot at something else.
Good luck.

I had Stillen slotted on my 99' for 30k before I traded it in no probs.
But these look real good for resisting warp: frozenrotors.com
Here is a link to another thread that I posted information on these in.
That pricing was for 2K2, it maybe a little cheaper for -2k1. I'd just like to know who's blanks they use.
If there is enough intrest we might be able to set up a GD.

Nice, keep feeding more info guys...
If the rotors last 30K then that should be more then satisfactory. Most rotors last last about that anyway. IF they warp after that then a resurface is all thats needed, but after those are gone I plan on gettin either brembo 4piston kit or the wilwood kit, ect...
I dont really need a GD when it comes to stillen, I get wholesale perminently
