Need Advice Re: Sending Max to the Body Shop

I recently purchased a 2003 Maxima SE and I had it put in writing that they will touch-up/fix the small scratches as well as a small deep scratch in the rear bumper.

Well they had my car in at the dealership today for the whole day. When I went to pick it up, I noticed that while they were able to take care of the minor scratches, they werent able to fix the deep scratch on the bumper and another one on the side. I complained as obviously even I couldve done a better touch up paint job than this so called expert did.

Now the dealership is saying that they would happily get it fixed by sending it to the body shop they work with. The guy mentioned that they will be sanding down the bumper or any other parts necessary and paiting over again.

Well I want your advice. The scratches are noticeable and I would like them taken care of but I am not sure how this re paint of the bumper will do over the age of the car. And will it even match with the rest of the car.

I have heard good stuff about the body shop. They apparently do some good work.

If you were in my position what would you do?

Re-paint will flake off. Especially if tapped.

Could a repaint really be any worse than the stock paint. I swear I was vacuming out the trunk and the soft rubber coated vacum hose left marks in the rear bumper. Stock paint is pure $hit.

Maxima Dan - I did the same thing on my Max. Vacuum hose left marks on the bumper. I was able to get the marks off. Really surprised me that the hose left those marks.
Anyway, I have had both my front bumper and my rear bumper repainted and they came out really nice (my rear bumper had real deep scratches). My car is black, so matching wasn't a problem. If there body shop is a good one, I would do it. You might want to talk to the body shop and get some reassurances from them. That's just my opinion ...
