what's your insurance cost?
Ok, I know there was a couple of threads like this, but i still would like a bit more info.
Please post following: Age/Gender Car(s) Location (State, City) Insurance company Insurance cost for a year Any extra info that influences total cost of insurance, such as traffic vialations, etc. 23/M 2K Maxima Wilmington, DE Progressive 1,600/year full coverage (500compr, 1000collision) 1 accident not at fault. Thanks. |
24/Male.
2002 Maxima SE Atlanta, GA AllState I pay roughly $1968/yr No tickets/accidents. (By the way, there is no such thing as "full coverage". I'm a claim rep. You are covered for what you elect to purchase. People call in all the time angry they don't have a rental car because they have "full coverage" when in fact all they have is liab/comp/coll. Just FYI.) |

Re: Re: Re: what's your insurance cost?
Originally posted by Teser I'm trying to get a feel how different rates are through the country. As far as I know, the primary factor is your location, the rest is secondary. Can you tell me where I can find statistics on this topic??? In any case, call your insurance agent and ask him/her. They have all the stats or at least the access to them. If you plan on moving to another part of the country, have them run some rates for you. |

Keep in mind some of these people that are in their early 20s paying less than 1600 a year are probably on mommy and daddy's policy...You cant get that kind of rate on your own under 25 like that. Unless you live in hickville USA.

2000 Nissan Maxima SE and 1989 Nissan Maxima San Francisco, CA 21st Century Insurance Co. I am on my parents full covered insurance and we pay $1250 in 6 month. 1 accident not at fault, several parking tickets |
4682 every 6 months(damn new jersey) sorry but that sounds surreal. even for NJ, with a clean record that is insane. Which company? A ferarri would defenitely not really hurt your premium i think.. heck for 10 years you will buy one with just the insurance premium. |

Maxima 2003 SE Auto Buffalo, NY Progressive $1400/YR. $1000 deductable on Collsion and Comprehensive. Have my own policy, but I guess I get good rates due to good credit history and minor non chargeable accidents. I do get charged 20% extra for inexperience driver surcharge as I am under 25 years. I also have a speeding ticket which gave me 3 points on my license, but I don't if they are counting it against me or not... I also took Insurance reduction class which gave me 10% off on my insurance. |

No offense guys, but it's pretty freakin dumb to not have Gap coverage on a new Maxima. If you put a lot down then I can understand, but these things go down in value like the Titanic in no time. I am an insurance claim rep in a total loss unit, and the number of people that are upside down on their cars in freakin crazy. If you don't have Gap, I highly recommend going out and getting it. Most auto-insurers don't offer it. It's something that you can get from an external source. I got mine from the dealer. Seriously, look into it at least...Why would you want to end up owing like $4-5000 on a car you don't even own anymore?? Gap is so worth it.

Of course financed cars have that option. I deal with this every day. Where the hell did you hear that??

Gap coverage is meant to cover what you still own on your loan and the value of your car. Its the difference. I have it in writing with AllState that that is exactly the purpose of Gap coverage. If I owe $15000 and my car is worth or valued at $12000, then the difference is covered. This much I am sure of with AllState.

I put 10K down on my car. GAP is worthless to me |
Originally posted by jjs Ok, let's make this reallly simple. New car price/loan amount: $25K Drive around Car's value now: $20K Major wreck, car totalled Who pays?: YOU!! Need to do some homework there!!! Originally posted by Ma><iManiac You might want to learn about this a little more...Sounds like you could be in for a surprise if you ever have a bad accident. maybe this is not available in NY, because when I bought this car as with my other NINE prior cars, I was never offered this nor was mention ever made of it....I was only given the gap coverage (actually I was FORCED to take it) when I leased the vehicle which only happened twice.... I will call my ins soon...I gotta get a lower premium anyway...$3000 a year is killing me |
