Does anybody else do this?

Sometimes when I'm listening to the radio, I like to shift gears at the point where the harmonics of the engine matches the music on the radio. It works best if you have an intake, but man... That sure is a cool sound, and a cool feeling. Love that engine!

Wouldn't you be shifting really really fast??? That must get tiresome...

uhh..no..You obviously don't get what I'm saying. I didn't say I shift with the beat...You see, songs are basically a series of chords. Most music doesn't switch between very many different ones, as songs are in certain keys. You can hear the progression of the chords, and as you accellerate, you can get the pitch of your engine to match the current chord the song is on. Maybe it's just because I've been a musician all my life. Surely someone else has done this??

i understand but SOUND would make sense to all of us non-musicians.
harmonic kinda sounds anyway

that is a diffirent use of the word.
you used it as - the combination of simultaneous musical notes (which an engine does not make!!! it makes SOUND!!)
"the world in perfect harmony" is - internal calm

You should seriously do it. It really is a cool way to pass the time while you're driving. I don't make a point to do it all the time or anything, but when I think about doing it, it's just another cool way to appreciate the awesomeness of the Max.

You think someone using the word "harmonics" makes them sound important and smart?? LOL! Did you graduate from high school? You actually think I was using that word to try and glorify myself somehow?? Dude, that's sad...Go buy one of those tapes to build up your vocabulary or something. By the way, read my original post. I did use the word "sound" at the end.

why does everyone on this damn forum have a ******* chip on their shoulder. just chill out. Who cares what he meant, why are you bating him? He didn't post that thread to prove something, you extracted that... he didn't claim to be a sound engineer either.

Stop the hate.

Can't we all just get along?

Back to the original thread, with my system cranked I can't hear the engine But I really gotta install the shift light - bounced off the rev limiter again yesterday because I usually don't look at the tach at those speeds and keep focused on the road (and torque steer).

Thanks, guys. I crank my system pretty loud sometimes too, but at night when its nice and cool, I like to cruise at a nice medium volume w/ the windows down (Don't want to wake anyone). That's probably the time when I do what I originally posted about the most. It's pretty cool.
