Remove lighter socket - help

Hi

Stupid question here, but I hope someone that has played
with a 2001 (ae) dash might be able to answer this for me.

I have a v1 radar detector, and the part that makes contact
in the lighter socket somehow came undone, and fell into the
left hole that exists in that socket.

How do I remove the lighter socket from the center dash
to get this part back?

Any thoughts? or pointers would be appreciated

Try removing the ashtray. Enough room for your hand back there?

Just remove the ashtray. Unscrew the 1 screw in there. And using a flat head just pop out the shift console. Then you'll be able to access the rear of the cigarette lighter

That worked great

Now problem 2

I after putting it together, I pulled it in and id didnt' seem to work
so I plugged it into the rear - above the cup holders - +12v slot.

I think it fell apart again in there - and fell through that hole.

Anyone kno whow to remove the cup holders and get into that area

thanks

Screw the whole project and just get a new cord.

got it

Well that was easy

there is a plastic cover at the bottom of the center panel
armwrest - armwrest open, this pops off

2 screws under that that hold the arm rest in place

take them out and you can see the back lighter, the piece was
just under the lighter, next to that was an opening down to
the cup holder.

I am glad that is over.

Becareful with Valentine lighter adapters

I removed my rear lighter. Just take a miniature screwdriver and pry around the surrounding moulding. It will pop right out.
