Recently became the proud owner of a used 2000 GXE. Everything runs fine, except every now and then the engine will turn off if I am idle for a minute or so.

It happened more often when I first got it and now less often as I drive it more. It's happened while I am in gear or parked.

Any ideas as to what's the problem?

 

few things that I would check first...air filter, throttle body, and cleaning fuel injectors. How's your fuel economy?

 

also is it a 5spd or auto and are you throwing a check engine light?

 

try cleaning the throttle body

 

It's an auto and no, the engine lights do not turn on before and after it happens. The fuel economy is fine and the car runs smooth with plenty of power.

I really think it is your throttle body. just go to the parts store and get some throttle body cleaner. They can pretty much tell you how to do this

 

maybe your egi harness, there is a tsb for it.

my car would cut out in park, the would cut out in drive.

Cost $1800 to repair, yep go NISSAN.

I am getting rid of the car soon. (too many problems)
