Got new tires today.....WOW!!!

I had Kumho 712's on the max, 235-45-17's, and I liked them enough to get another set. So I go to Discount, and the salesman talks me into trying the Yokohama ES100. I buy a set $133.00 ea. mounted and balanced, and get the same size 235-45-17. All I can say is Oh my God, these things are sticky, quiet, and smooth as glass. Best part is they were only $10.00ea. more than the 712's. We'll see how they work out in the long term, but so far they are amazing!!

I just got some ES100s in 225/55/16 on my max a couple days ago and i love them. These tires are bad ***, stick to the ground and a very smooth ride so far.

I have them in the 245/40/18 variety. They are great tires, especially in the wet. Treadwear is rated at 280. I'll be happy if I can squeeze 30K out of them.

About 25-30k They came with the rims off of another Maxima. They still had about 4/32 on them, but the ride, and the noise became unbearable.

I have the same exact things and they are sweet, dont push em too hard because they dont give too much notice be4 they let go, they are really quiet and you cant tell (like with other tires) they aer about to let go.

THat doesn't sound too bad for $130ish apiece. I might consider these when my blowtenzes go...I can't afford to replace them if they still have tread, suck or not.

THanks for the info!

You are nuts, the best price I found on Pilots were $201.00 a piece. I don't know how money spends where you are from, but $280.00 more for a set of tires is ALOT!

My next tires for the Max will be the Yokohama's, but I haven't decided on which model.

I recently put the Avid Touring(didn't carry the V4 ANYWHERE!) on the Sentra and they are AWESOME. Love the steering/turn-in feel. Pretty damn sticky and quite too.

Good for you You prolly only eat name brand Ramen noodles too, not that cheap crap What makes Michelin's any better than the rest, other than the name? I don't think they are worth the extra money the demand, because of the name. And Michelin makes alot of other tires, like BF Goodrich, made by Michelin, half the price. There are other tires out there that are as good, if not better. Car and Driver did a test of popular tires, many years ago, and you know what tire won? The Pep boys Futuras Believe it or not, they outperformed tires costing 3 times as much, and guess who makes them? Michelin!! I have Futuras on the front of my Mustang, in the 275-40-17 size, and they rock!! So really, what's in a name?

Check out some Sumitomo HTR+. They have a tread rating of 360 and the 235-45-17's are only $89 a piece right now at tirerack.com. I'v got them and they are great. Check out this link. Sumitomo HTR+ There are quite a few people out there who are pleased with them.

I'm running these tires as well, and you're right about them being quiet, but the tires do communicate pretty well through the steering wheel and '***-meter'. I've found that they're very predictable, and I've never lost traction without knowing I was at the very edge of the tire's limits.

Bottom line: noise isn't always a good indicator of traction or lack thereof.

I had those on my ride, but they didn't last too long for me. They did have great traction all around and were quiet. I switched over to Firestone Firehawks which have a much better tread rating.
