I just wanted to know if an extended warranty covers the brake juttering problem...understood as 3yr/36000 mile. Also I called Nissan Dealership and they said warped rotors are not covered. Just wanted to know if Nissan the facts...ty

the tsb are covered under the 36k/3yr warranty. i had my pads replaced and rotors turned at 9k then recently at 31k they replaced the rotors but left the pads since they had a good amount of life left on them. at 9k, they did the repairs no problem but at 31k, they said it wasnt covered under the tsb and that they were just doing a good will repair. if i were you, i would pick up some brembo blank rotors and some hawk pads or bendix IQ pads.

Yeah, if they're gonna charge you for resurfacing the rotors, just do a front brake job with new rotors & pads. I'm doing this all around my car, but mainly 'cause my rear rotors are rusted.
The stock Nissan rotors tend to warp again and again from what I've read anyway...

At MOST dealers it will not be covered. Try taking it to your dealer and see what they say, there is a slight chance it may be covered. If they aren't going to cover it under warranty then I would suggest going with aftermarket rotors and pads.

I call Nissan and asked them about NTB00-088A Brake Judder. The note on the first page specifically stated that repairs as outlined in this bulletin are covered under the 3year/36k mile warranty. The Nissan customer service person talked with the service manager at the dealer. She called back and told me to take it to the dealer to see if it qualified under the TSB. I took it in, gave them a copy of the TSB. Got a phone call later that afternoon telling me that my car was ready and that the brakes had been repaired according to the TSB. Basically, the rotors were turned (which is what the TSB if for). The brake judder is completely fixed.

It took a little talking to Nissan and the dealer, but I got it fixed. Obviously, I had to have that TSB proving the statement made by Nissan.

You know, it would help if you guys would post the year of your cars, considering the fact that the TSB is for 2000 only. I'm in the middle of this problem with my 2002 and they aren't doing a damn thing for me. I've pretty much decided never to buy another Nissan (this was my first one). I can handle a lot of things, but sh1tty service isn't one of them. They know the problem exists, but they won't fix it. Screw em.

Note> NTB00-088 is for the Year 2000. I know NTB00-088A replaces 088 and then adds the 2001 models. I don't think there is one for 2002. Go to the Nissan website. It is the statement on the TSB that got we the warranty work, not the TSB itself. As you know, most TSB's just instruct the mechanic how to fix the problem. They don't state how it's covered.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately common sense isn't something that is in abundance at Nissan. They're too interested in doing anything they can to avoid warranty covered work instead of making customers happy, who will in turn buy another Nissan. I know I won't. Oh well, they're owned by the French anyway.

I've had the Max for 624 miles and the service engine light came on. Dropped it off at Southern States Nissan of Apex and was advised that my catalyic convertor code had set the light off. Having owned the car for 2 weeks I asked if that was covered under warranty and was told no. Not surprising, I'm over 43k. I was also told that my front rotors were warping and that they needed to be turned. I asked if that was covered under the warranty and was told no again. So I found this info above that the brakes were supposedly covered under NTB00-088A but I can't find anything on NTB00-088A. I have found plenty on NTB-088 thought, but, that only covers the 2k's. They reset my light and cleared the codes in hope that they won't come on again b/c Nissan said the part alone is $700 not including installation and since it isn't covered it will be expensive. If they don't replace it I am going to give them the car back, b/c I will be da**ed if I am going to buy a car and then 2 weeks later spend $700-$1000 in repairs. On top of that I didn't even drive the car for a week after it was bought b/c I was at the beach. At least they didn't charge for resetting the codes b/c they would have been SOL!!!!!
Oh yeah, I am going to turn the brakes until I run out of tolerance and then I am going to get some Brembo or some kind of aftermarket rotor/pad setup. Just wanted to let others know what I was running into.

I'm not sure about the warranty on the Cat... maybe its under the emmissions warranty or the powertrain, but for the brakes you have 42K on the car, of course its not under warranty, unless there was some warranty when you bought your car. Factory warranty 3 yr 36K bumper to bumper. Also, at 42K its not really unheard of to need brakes.

Do a seach on Federal Emissions Warranty. The cat should be covered for 80K miles by law. If it came to you paying for it, good luck trying to get NNA to refund you...
