92 Sentra Bunch of Crap

Another buddy of mine at work just bought a 92' Nissan Sentra with a brand-new SR-20 engine in it. It sotck has 170 hp. But he has proclaimed that he has gotten new headers, exhaust, and cold-air intake. Now, I know he has all these parts on it because Ive seen under the hood, but the big issue here is that with these mods he proclaimed that he was pushing 300 hp. I told him "Nooo Waay Buddy" but he keeps barking that hes telling the truth. He "hot-foots" it everyday when leaving and all I can say is...damn...for 300 hp that sure is slow as hell. You guys think this guy is for real or is he just telling a bunch of bull?

170 is a big lie too isn't it??
or did he get some pimped-out SR20VE in there?

At first I considered it could have been a poorly-tuned SR20DET...

I had a 91 sentra with similar mods.. and uh no.

I thought it was fast until I drove a max for the first time. He 'hot-foots' it cuz its a crappy 4-banger and you HAVE to floor it to get anywhere.

Thats the way it seems....he floors it and it barely moves...and then when he shifts to second..its like the thing cant even pull second because the rpms drop as usual and then drop even more. Whats up with this? Does this guy just suck or is it the car or what?

All US spec SR20DE's were rated at 140hp and 132 tq. stock from 1991 through 2001. You can easily get 170 crank hp with cams and headers and it takes more work to get to the 190 range. Even with all the mods I had in my '92 SE-R it still would get spanked by my '02 Maxima (NA vs. NA)
