OK..so do any of you speedier types who have written about your Maxima top speeds employ a decent radar detector/laser jammer? I'm looking for one that will WORK, other than the $400.00 Valentine1, which just seems way too expensive.
Any recommendations?

I don't have a V1, but want one. The current one I have is a Cobra (forgot what model)... Jane97SE bought me that (thanks!).

The V1 is worth every penny from what I've heard.

I have a Bel 880 and drove my 2K from Las Vegas, Nevada to Bloomington, IN and it worked great. Drove the whole way at the cars cruise control limit (90 mph).

I don't know about radars man. I nephew got busted with a cobra. the cop fliped that thing scanner on for a second and even when his rader went off it was still too late. I use my 3 eyes when I can, heck they are free so might as well put em to use

how much did you pay for the bel 880, i need one,
is your a radar and a jammer/scrambler? or just radar.
ANyway i only have 150-175 dollars to waste on whatever i can find. Preferebly a jammer.

From what I've heard, Jammers/Scramblers especially in your range aren't worth a damn. If you pass a piggy doing 60 in a 35 he can still take a visual estimate and give you a ticket.

I personally am waiting untill I can get a V1. However, this won't protect from "instant-on". Basically if the cop doesn't turn it on untill he has it aimed at you, you're screwed, no matter how fast you slow down, he still has you already. The key is to drive smart. If you are in moderately heavy traffic, I doubt a cop will be running "instant-on" but on a road with less traffic that they know people speed on... you're probably toast.

im good with

im good with local traffic, i go 25 in residential. stop for school buses and even the icecream man, but im on the highway alot since i commute to college so the limits 55. i just want to be able to go 80 at the most! without worrying all the time.
I would never break laws in local driving. But on the highway(turnpike), if you go 55 you get killed.

If you go with the flow on the highway you're not that likely to get busted. I was doing about 10-15 over the other day in a pack of cars, there was a copper hiding at an underpass that I'm sure got us all at about 70-75. No one got a ticket. If I had a v1, I could've been doing 80ish... I'm sure he wouldn't have been doing instant on.. and if he was, I would've caught it a mile before I got to him.

V1

I have the V1 and it is the absolute best. It rules. I have it in a stealth install and it's worked for me super-well all summer. I recently did get an instant-on ticket, we'll play with them in court .. but as the others say, instant-on will just nail you no matter what, and laser/radar jammers DO NOT WORK. Check out all the reviews done by Car & Driver, Road & Track, etc. All tests say the same thing. They are useless.

Don't get a cheaper detector, wait until you can get the V1 and do it.

this is what i got

ok i been seeing some product sites, and for less than $200 dollars you get a radar detector

For above $200 you get a radar/jammer setup

i am trying to decide between Bel 950, V1, or K40 Portable RD650 VG-2.

Well I like the whole Portable thing , that V1 looks HUGE!! on the website, i dont think i would want such a huge thing in my car. the Bel950 and k40 one have similar prices bout 300 dollars. The v1 is 400 dollars.

But i guess these are retail prices. Anyone know a online site that sells them dirt cheap? Or would a Best BUy sell em?

Roger
p.s. im still looking for a $200 solution, but looks like i dont get much for $200 dollars

Valentine Research, started by Mike Valentine when he left Cincinatti Microwave (Makers of the Escort detectors, etc..)

Check out www.valentineone.com. I haven't seen many other if any places sell V1s, but every review and owner I have seen RAVES about them and says don't waste your money on anything else. I have seen them on ebay for like.. $350-$400 so that is something to check. Considering the fact that they sell that high USED on ebay should tell you they are worth every penny.
