Should I trade in maxima?

I don't know how many of you have seen the new Scion Xb but I'm contemplating on trading in the max for it. You can see a picture of it at http://www.scionlife.com/features/2003008/

I'd be losing some major power, but monthly payment would be lower and so would tickets.

On the other hand if I kept the max I would add a kit and some rims and take it to shows. Wish I could afford both.

Well some people like it others hate it. I see it as a new project unlike the usual imports. It has the 108 hp stock but there some real nice turbo/superchargers out there for it. check out www.sciontuner.com

the square box look is all the rage in Japan....

I would just buy a $2,000 milk truck, paint it, lower it, and throw some rims on it. Same concept....

Have any of you on the West coast seen these things? They are not supposed to be out on the east coast till Jan-Feb 04'.

Your probably right; all the kids with their civics will be driving these things since they are so cheap.

Also I recently replaced my tires on the max after 51k miles. I put on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S with the stock rims. Nice grip!

Ouch, considering trading in a Max for this thing is like saying I'd like to chop off my leg and replace it with a stump. Sure, you'll be able to limp around from place to place but why?

1) I think a post-office truck is cheaper...something like $350.

2) It's about as aerodynamic as a refrigerator.

3) I say go for it so we can all have a great laugh and then rub it in your face every time you come back to the org. to tell us how sorry you are for giving up the Max.

LOL That was my first thought when I saw one of these things on the road. 30 years of aerodynamic research down the drain. 5 mpg?

Actually I've seen quite a few of these Scions out here. But my momma said if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

I say do what makes you happy mate, not something that apeals to me but if it keeps those payments down and you need the money it might work,

But I think if you drive one you will keep you Maxima and do it up, and reap the rewards..

your choice mate

yo guys have gotta go to scion.com and look at some of the options they have (neon lights, LED cup holder illumination, shifter, cold air intake, strut bar) lots of COOL stuff. I would ahve to say the xA is really good looking if you add like 17" wheels to it

Dude, you must be smoking some good stuff. That'll be a big negative on the trade. You ideally want to trade up from a Maxima the scion just seems a bit extreme.

no frigging way

I don't see why you'd wanna take such a HUGE stop down not only in power but in styling. Ugh! I remember seeing 1/4 mile times of 18.1 or 18.2 in Car and Driver. Horrible!

I've drag raced my 2K2 auto Max and even if I run a low 15, a guy running 17 or 18 is COMPLETELY decimated! It's so funny!

I'm the only other one here who likes the look and the functionality of the car. Ohh well........

1st question.... How is it cheaper for you? One of these goes for high teens. You think you're gonna get more than high teens on your trade in on the Max?

2nd... if you're concerned about money....... why would you put more money into your max if you kept it?

3rd... No Power... Maybe with a supercharger it will be as fast as a Civic EX?

4th... The Max may not be perfect.. it may not be the best car in the world... but its really F---en nice compared to most. Scion is 1-2 steps down at the same cost

They mated a Yugo with an Element. I would keep the Max and watch my right foot.

I never thought anyone would actually want one of those! I was actually kinda hoping that Toyota would fall right on their faces with that, when most of the status-minded Cali kids refused to buy those ugly boxes. Oh, I'm sure they'll sell some....I mean ppl bought Aztecs and Elements......but not many....

It's his decision and he can do whatever he'd like. The Scions might not be my top choice but the Xa is a nice little car, with a few aftermarket parts it looks really nice:

29....I'm really not concerned about racing the Scion, it would be more for show than go. I would get the Honda Element but there is not as much aftermarket styling for it as the Scion xB...oh well I guess you kinda have to have an open mind for the possibilities of customization whether it be a maxima or civic or whatever. I'm just sick of seeing all those SUV's not offroading and riding on huge rims and thinking they are show-worthy.

why don't you get an ice cream truck you will get more attention like that . and free ice cream

1. this is what i would do to you.
2. this is you after you realize what you've done (if you trade it for that box)
3. this will be you in the car :attention
4. this is what will happen you unless you race an ice cream truck .
