Car veers to the right slightly (problem?)

Got my car about 3.5 months ago, and it has been veering to the right slightly at everyday speeds, and moreso at highway speeds. What's the deal? I hit a hard *** pothole about a week after I got it, on the left front tire.. would that have anything to do with it? What can be done?

im not sure about where you live but in NC most roads have a crown to them. the highest point is in the middle of the road so cars naturally drift to the right. i always check the way my car tracks on the highway, so if the road is not a problem then have you had an alignment recently and have you check the air pressure on your tires?

I doubt that it is the roads, because it can't be EVERY road, heh. I will check tire pressure.. last I checked (about 3 weeks ago) it was in the low to mid 40's. Is that over inflated? I haven't changed the pressure since I bought the car.

How much is alignment, and do I need to have it on a new car?

in my opinion 40 is too high unless you checked it while the tires were warm. i check mine when they are cool(not driven on for 4 hours or so) and i keep mine at either 34 or 35. alignment costs vary from shop to shop. my dealer does it for 59 but i bought a lifetime alignment contract for firestone for 99 and i have never had problem with firestone or their work. mileage wont be the determining factor if you need it or not. you mentioned you hit a large pothole which could easily knock it out of spec. if your left sided tires arent a good bit overinflated than the right then i would bet it needs an alignment.

Ditto to sloppymax I bought a lifetime also you figure if you do it twice you got your $ worth plus I live in Buffalo and our roads leave a bit to be desired in the spring so I take it every 6 mos to have it checked. You may also have a slipped belt in one of the front tires try a rotate and balnce depnding of coarse on the cond of the tires. Peace
