Cattman muffler versus others

Hey all, I've been debating the switch to the cattman/stromung muffler just for a little nicer tips and a beefier sound. I've only got the Cattman Y right now and it's dead quiet. I really don't want the mid range drone, maybe a sound like the late 90s Bimmer 3series, sounds meaty when you start up, but no drone while driving. If I'm going about it wrong and should just keep what I have and shut my mouth, just let me know.

Vito

I'm holding off on a real intake for a while, I have no desire to sound ricey so lets hope this works out, otherwise it's a real pricy mistake

Im going to take a guess and say that you also want to hear the soundclip, am I right Andreas

greekmax2k1: Can you PM Nathan aka maximamaybe and send him the soundclip as well. The Exhaust soundclips I have in my sig are on his site and im sure yours will make a fine addition to it

Ive heard the cattman cat-back with a cattman y-pipe and a race pipe from custom maxima (Y2kSeSteve's ride) and to be honest it doesnt sound anoying at all, drone is very minimal.

The quietest muffler you can get is a dynomax.

releasedtruthIf you meant and intake will make the car sound ricey)

An intake will NOT make your car sound ricey, the 1st time I hit wot after I installed my franken/stillen combo it just put a nice grin on my face. It sounds downright evil at around 2800rpms and it just get louder as it roars to redline, trust me you wont regert getting an intake. IF you want one that just looks very good, get the Injen (keep in mind this is not a true CAI) If you want a true CAI get the place racing unit. The one with the best high end power goes to frankencar but the that works the best overall is the ghetto airbox, it doesnt look pretty nor does it sound amazing but its damn sure works.

No no, the ricey and intake comments should have been separated. It's the fart cannon ricey exhaust I don't want. I don't want people looking at my ride and thinking it's a piece like those 4 banger crap piles. I just want a good look to go along with a little beefier sound, but nothing droning and loud

Were exactly in Az are you located? If your not too far maybe you can hear mine in person If we meet up with a few others at a meet or something im sure you'll get to hear steve's exhaust which is the same setup that your condsidering getting (except for the racepipe)
Like I said I do have some soundclips in my sig, check those out to give you an idea of what they sound like. Mine honestly does drone form 1500-1900 and it gets pretty damn deep, however on the highway its quiet until you get on it.

I've got a cattman, and it only drones when holding it @ 2500rpm. Get on the gas a bit and it goes away. In my opinion it's very tolerable.

Full cattback or just the muffler? I've got the Y pipe and it's dope, but a 350 bone muffler is a tough choice to make.

My Cattman exhaust drones, but it isn't too bad. I love the sound of my exhaust.

I have a cattman catback and are very pleased. With a stock intake I could notice only a slight difference in sound. With the Injen it is louder but not anywhere near obnoxious or intrusive as the 'rice' systems. I don't have an aftermarket y-pipe so sound may vary. Go for the full cattback because most of the restrictions are in the bends of the b-pipe,this will help free up exhaust flow that the y-pipe is making. Off topic question do you throw a CEL/SES light with the y pipe.

With the Cattman Y and Muffler you will have a drone. The B-pipe deepens the sound and makes it slightly louder.

I kick no lights currently, I know the full exhaust would be better, but I just wanted a little sound and looks, not so much the power, got most of what you can get already with the Y

You mean the Y-pipe

Andreas honestly I know nothing of the OBX exhaust.

The cattman catback even with a Y-pipe is VERY tolerable, not anyoying at all...

Third (or fourth) on the Cattman... It sounds really nice in my opinion, very deep tone without sounding ricey whatsoever... Stand on it to WOT and it does get loud, but in a deeper (awesome) sounding way instead of ricey. I have many V8 friends and they drool over the sound of my Max at WOT.

Yeah Nathan listed your name instead or greekmax2k1, thats whos ride it was. Although the new clips are nice, try to do a setup like what Maximamaybe and I have done. Startup, Rev, Inside, Outside, ect... I know its a bit much to ask, but atleast it covers most every angle. The only angle I have not covered it a fly by, but I had no1 to record so
