Pinging or not pinging, that is the question!

Hey guy's i have been on the forum for a while. But i have never heard the engine ping. I do know that many 2k2, 2k3 have pinging problem somehow connected to crappy coils. But i don't know if i have the pinging.
Can you please explain how does the engine pinging sounds. mp3 file would be greatly apriciated.

Metallic noises when you're at 3/4 or WOT. You'd know. Keep in mind it's faint though. It's not going to be so loud you'll hear it over music. You can definitely hear it in the cabin with all windows closed.

It's hard to describe. I heard it while using light throttle (on my auto) while going between 25-45. Try climbing a steep hill...

Basically it sounds like a sorta metallic hammering noise, not really a pop and it should be a whole series of them pretty rapidly. I've owned other cars that had pinging probs so I'm very familiar w/the sound.

Turn your stereo off, roll down the windows when no cars are around and listen carefully.
