6spd MAX vs. 5spd WRX?
from a roll, (mainly anything over 40mph) its a good race if he can drive well, but you will likely win.
off the line, you lose, if knows how to drive. if he is unexperienced with launching his car, its will be very close.
your much better off going from a roll.
*this is assuming both are stock*

Depends how bad they wanna beat their ride, if he/she wants to do a all-out launch you will be left standing still at the line while he/she slingshots off the line. If they roll off the line, your gonna pull em.

Also I raced the 2.5 RS with a custom turbo and other stuff done to it judging by the sound of the blow off valve and gauges, on the high way and beat him every time. We both got off the exit ramp and cought a light. Light turned green and this Subaru took off like a rabbit out of a hole. He had me by 3 cars and I was only doing 25, and kept on pulling. I couldnt believe how quck that sucker was.
Ive beaten my friends with intake, exhaust and chip with my 3.5 auto - they arent all they're cracked up to be - he can launch really good he beats inexperienced EVO drivers all the time - he got the launch on m eand i launched good and i was only like a car nose behind him i caught back up and had him by a full car
they're not?
As an ex owner of a 'rex', I believe they are all they are cracked up to be. (Awd = awesome handling all conditions) ('Boxer Turbo' = w/ few mods = WOW) In case anybody cares, one of the best launch techniques is to rev it up to about 5.5 (hold it steady to build boost) and (almost) drop the clutch - the time I had did this with my car was the only time I got a 'mini' burnout when I owned. Sadly, I didn't really abuse my car when I owned it. This is something I truely regret. But anyway, Congrats 02SunLiMaxima on the kill (wrX) and the others! Keep up the good work
I just look at it this way, of the person next to me in a WRX wants to win, he can... but at an expense to their drivetrain. From a roll they arnt too impressive. Ive tried one (stock from what I could tell) in my auto 3.0 from a 50mph roll...gave it 3 honks and we held even til 80 were he pulled and we shut down at 90
My car is a mid 15sec cruiser and I was able to hold the scoobie off to a certain point
Off the line I know I dont stand a chance, I know what they are capable of. Handling I wont even go there, thats not even a contest.

I've never been to impressed with the WRX...or any car for that matter where you have to dump the clutch at 5000+ rpm to get at the cars performance potential. I've always maintained that when looking at the performance figures in the car mags...you must look at the 0-60 times as well as the 5-60 times. If they are close then the car has very good practical performance potential...and by practical I mean not needing to abuse your drivetrain.
