Question on O2 replacement?

Check engine light came on, took to my mechanic to run the codes. He said that the O2 Sensor had a heater that had shorted. That only the 2K max had it. Going to charge me $250 to replace? Fair $ or to much. Yeah, I could do it myself, just got way to many other "projects". Thanks for any input.

it should only take you about an hour if you know which sensor it is. you can buy the sensors online or call nissan parts(daveb).

My SES light has been on also, and I took my 2000 maxima to Autozone, told me it was the front O2 sensor. They told me it will cost around $250 for the part also. My car only has 27,000 miles on it so im still under Nissan warrenty thank god. I was hoping I just didnt secure the gas cap tightly, but I guess I have to take it back to Nissan again.

Anyone know what causes the O2 senors to go bad ?? I know it results in poor gas millage, anything else if not fixed?

No, I thought about that too. Even it is, it would be very tough to make the dealers replace it.

ECM reflash usually requires after replacing O2 sensors.
