pinging....revisited

Its like finding a needle in a haystack to figure out why my Max is pinging continously over 50mph. Dealer told me to put my stock air box back on (I did) and they would do the flash ECU upgrade for the hesitation and a newly released upgrade that came out last week that they will perform. I had a voltage problem with my MAF sensor which they replaced at no charge and did the flash ECU upgrades and the car still pings. They had called Nissan Tech Support and noticed I had gone to a different dealer with the same problem and told that dealer that it was my intake. Well, since my stock airbox is now back on their excuse is now "on occasion your engine will ping and this is normal" what a bunch of crap. I went back down to the dealer again today to talk to the tech and told me to come back tomorrow for a test drive. He also told me that due to me calling NNA and opening up a file on this if my engine does fail in the future due to the engine pinging, they will take care of it if and when this happens. The service manager said that "Nissan is aware of this problem" and cannot confirm if they are researching a solution to the 3.5L V6 pinging issues.

After the two flash ECU upgrades and putting the stock airbox back on the car just wants to haul serious butt. The car seems faster compared to when I had my JWT intake on (which is for sale). I'll post what happens when I visit Temecula Nissan tomorrow....

Dave - I would seriously mark one if not multiple coils right now and check back later to see if they replaced them. Two ECU flashes just doesn't sound like it would solve the problem. Additionally, I would think the 3.5's would have more pinging than the 3.0's. They're probably using the same coils if no the same voltage.....Shift_new coils. Peace_

Sounds about right dave. If they were replaced @ 21-22k, why not again at 43-44k? Unless they upgraded to a newer version model, I'm not sure. I would guess one's on it's way out. The intervale also sounds a little premature. Good luck keeping it running smooth bro, I feel for ya. Peace_
