300zx rotors arent fitting properly...

i have the 93 300zx calipers.....
but when i was trying to put on the rotors... it was hitting the heat shield cuz the 300zx calipers fit closer to the control arm... so would i have to cut off the heat shield???

I read somewhere that someone shaved off about 4mm of the rotor to make it fit. I don't know if this will solve the problem though.

you have to shave teh 4mm's off the diameter of the rotors, you can bang the sheild out for it to clear, mind did perfectly, remember to check the clearance of the lower control

i will try hammering down the heat shield a bit....
if it still doesnt work i think i will just cut it....
but after getting rid of the heat shield problem, will the rotors fit right onto the hub??? cuz when i looked this afternoon, the rotors werent even touching the hub..

and where can i see the how to's for the 300zx calipers???
thanks

Definetely need to remove the shield. Best way is to take a metal chisel and make a cut on it near the drive shaft and rip the whole thing off. If you dont have that ability, you can always tin snip them off as close to the shaft as possible.

here's how mine looked...

You may see where I banged in the shield some... (it doesnt rub or make any noise at all when i drive

i had to use a few extra washers since the Z bolts were too long (I got had to get Z bolts cause the caliper bolts didnt come with it and the stock 2k2 bolts wont fit the Z caliper.. at least mine didnt)

BOLTS

BRAKES ON CAR

be sure not to strip the top hose fitting, mine was hard as hell to remove. I stripped it a little, dont make the same mistake I did

Get the calipers from any salvage yard and rebuild them, unless you can fork out the money for new ones.

i thought the bolts from the stock calipers are 19... cuz i tried to fit the calipers bolts from my stock caliper into the 300zx caliper holes and they wouldnt even go through... the holes on the 300zx calipers are too small for the stock caliper bolts to go through

Bang/remove the shield, shaver the inner rotor as instructed, and be prepared to shave a bit off your control arm as well.

You know this is the EXACT SAME problem I had when I was going to install the 300zx Calipers and Rotors. Seems like 5th gens changed the Caliper Bracket bolt to a thicker size.

I was going to re-tap the entire 300zx Caliper to the bolt size of the Maxima except I didnt have a 14mm Tap on me.

Ended up giving up and selling the kit.

i thought the two sizes were 17 and 19
i think the 5th gen calipers use 19 and the 300zx uses 17
