Help needed with my car.

Hey guys,

Something really strange is happening to my car.

Let me describe what happened to it. About three weeks ago I went to the track for the first time to see what my car will run and on one of the runs I got alot of wheel hope and damaged what turned out to be rear engine mount. I was getting that loud thump/clunk when taking off. I know other people on this board had similar problem. Also, I think I noticed that my car became more floaty in the front and just didn't drive the same. I took it to the dealer and of course they couldn't find anything wrong. So with the help other person here I was able to convince my dealer that it was busted rear engine mount. So ordered a new rear engine mout and replaced. I was happy that it that noise went away that my car is fixed after the new rear engine mount, until I picked up the car...

Now here is what I noticed after I picked up the car from the dealer:
My car doesn't handle/ride the same as it used to. There is much more floatness in the front of the car and car seems to follow the road much more now. What I mean by that if road not 100% flat and I either floor it or apply brakes, car seems to litarely go there. I have to fight my steering wheel to keep it inline. I know that you guys might say it is torque steer, but it never was that way.

Question I have is: Can busted engine mounts make the car handle/ride this way? Make it more floaty, etc. Can that be that I have another mount that is busted? They had to remove bunch of things to replace rear engine mount, right? Could they messed something up when doing that?
What did they need to remove, loosen up in order to replace rear engine mount?

I am sorry for so many questions, I am just really desperate to find what is causing my car to be driving that way. I don't want to take it to the dealer without finding out myself what is wrong. They most likely won't find anything.

Thanks for all the help I can get.

Dany

Hmm, I hope nothing is wrong, my car does it too, and I believe it is torque steer. Also, it may sound dumb, but do you think you might be a little "paranoid" since you just got it out the shop?

Dany and MadMaxx03 - TQ Steer is not part of the picture when you are braking. For the car to be pulling on braking I'ld check 2 things. Tie Rod Ends, and Control Arms. I think there's a TSB or Recall on the Control Arms for the 02. My car had the Control arms replaced at 5000 Miles as part of some Recall Nissan had.

Also broken (REAR) motor mount would mean that if you put the car in Reverse, it'll cause the engine to Lift up from the back and slap the top of the hood under hard Reverse.

Dany I think maybe Tie Rod ends bent or somthing bent relating to Allignment making the car pull like it is. Just get under the car and check everything out.

Just in case if you haven't already, i'd check tire pressure. Never know if u lost any somehow, but my car was doing that not too long ago and my tire pressure wasn't the same in each tire.
Also, could they have replaced it with the wrong engine mount?
Just throwing thoughts out there.

Hey PIONEER thanks for yout reply.
What I noticed is when I broke the rear engine mount that it I was making that loud thump/clunk, when taking off in first and reverse gears. There are couple other people on here had similar problem and it was rear mount. I finally proved it to the dealer and they replaced the rear mount last week. Noise went away, I was happy, until I drove the car.
As I drove the car noticed that it had much more play in front. More floatness and general lossness. Car had a very nice and firm feel to it before. I thought it was in my head because I have not driven the car in like a week and I removed the FSTB before I gave the car to dealer to do that service. So I thought it was just in my head. I installed FSTB this weekend and still car feels the same. There is definetly something wrong with my car. Especailly how the car just goes to the side when braking and when just driving car will just follow the road much more than it did before. I checked the tire pressure and they all good.

What I am trying to figure out is that could dealer have done something to the car while replacing the rear engine mount? What do they need to remove, etc, to change the mount?

I read some places that busted engine mounts can cause the car's aligment to be off and make the whole car not drive the same. Can I have some other mount busted? They did tell me that my transmision mount that is on the driver side was a little loose. They told me the fixed it up too.

Thanks.
