Alpine Speakers Question...
Alpine Speakers Question...
Hey all...
I'm planning on getting the Alpine 9815 HU, and want to upgrade my speakers too.
I'm having trouble figuring out which speakers to get. I don't want to buy speakers and find out they won't fit, and Crutchfield doesn't really list anything that is that great that fits, so I'm turning to the forum for help. I'm looking for fullrange speakers, not components as I just want to replace the BOSE speakers.
I'd like to match Alpine speakers with the HU, but according to Crutchfield, they won't fit:
6.5" - SPR-174A - Mounting Depth 2.75"
5.25" - SPR-134A - Mounting Depth 2.25"
BTW, I've got a 2k2 Max with BOSE w/o Navi.
Thanks!

I have JL Audio components up in the front, and JL coaxes for the back.. For the front you'll need to cut out a couple of MDF rings and attach your 6.5s to them as a way to increase the mounting depth. I'm not sure if there is a drastic difference between the 2k2 doors and 2k1 but that's what I ended up doing and it worked out ok. You may want to post this on the Audio forum to get more feedback.

The shop carries MTX, JBL, and I think Cerwin-Vega speakers...I could just pick from what they have that will fit. But I like to have an idea of what I'm getting.
From experience I think Cerwin-Vega makes good speakers, but that was home audio, not car audio.
Maybe I'll just have to stop by the shop and bug them about it
