You could paint the upper portion of the main light red on the inside like stock and then have the clear bottom portion like so many people want.

Yup, I'd get some red translucent paint and paint the top part red.

thought about it...no reflectors though so it's really unsafe but it's the closest thing so far we have to a shot of red/clears until custommaxima comes out with it, if they ever do

it's also on the tails...right where the red meets the orange (for 2k2/2k3)...it's on the bottom part of the red right above the orange

i am so sure of this too, if i am mistaken, sorry about the confusion

That looks so tight! I can't believe someone actually made these...I just wonder how the fitment is, and the quality (whether they leak, etc...)

If you look at the RX330, it has red reflectors on the back of the bumper. So even if you put LED's in these clear lights, they'll still be illegal in the day.

The clears look cheap, it has too much of a mirror finish that it starts to look like most aftermarket Altezza's. At least the 2k2/3 taillights have a nice titanium-like finish to it.

The black doesn't look too bad though.

Yeah, watch out,the seller has quite a number of negative feedbacks. Who will be the first to buy these and see if these lights are legit?

Educate me, I'm not sure what you mean LED and they would be illegal in the day? Is it the visibility of the braking light?

I love the item description they wrote...

On the third line they say "STREET LEGAL!"

and then a few lines later they say "THIS SET OF TAIL LIGHTS IS ONLY FOR OFF ROAD OR SHOW PURPOSE ONLY"

I think they'd look great on my sheer silver max tho

The law says you need to have a red reflector that is visible from the rear. Since the lens will be clear unless lit by a red bulb, there will be no red reflector visible from the rear in the day time.

Specifically Tail Lights? or any red reflector from rear will do? I wonder if the red lense of the spoiler's 3rd brake light would meet the requirement for day time if you used red bulbs at night in the clear lenses?

But if you put red bulbs in the housings, they will leave a red reflection just like the amber bulbs do for the 2k-2k1 tailights.

I'm happy to see someone release a couple of aftermarket lights for the 5th generation Maxima. I would love to see some projector headlight assemblies w/angel eye rings come next.

However, I wouldn't even consider any aftermarket head- or taillight unless they were DOT approved. No need for some stupid 'fix it' ticket from the cops. Unfortunately, I believe most of the stuff out there now isn't DOT-approved, so that gets my thumbs down.

The brake light both in the window and on the spoiler are not reflectors. Reflectors are the things that reflect light when it is shone on. Think bicycle reflector style reflectors. The 5th gen rear reflectors are integrated into the tail lamp. The reason why the RX330 can pull off clear tail lamps is because it has the rear red reflectors on the rear bumper instead of integrated with the lamp.

That would work fine if you're going for the red/clear look. Although through that method you would not attract as much attention from police as with all clear tail lamps, I don't believe that these lamps are neither DOT or SAE approved. Therefore if a cop wanted to bust you, he could- even if you paint the upper lens red.

Ah, it makes a lot of sense, since you put it more clearly when you used the RX 330 as an example of why it's legal. Thanks for the heads up.

question... can you change the stock harnrness for the taillights and blinkers for LED harness...ex. RX330) so that it would appear clear in the day and really shine bright when in use...

or do they make LED bulbs for the sizes of our brake and blinkers?????????

i think if you had LEDs that the would be perfectly legal...
what ya think?????????????

That's the thing, no matter how red your lights is - if you don't have red reflectors, then it's technically illegal to have it.

very simple...it's not on the tail lights but it's on the rear end of the rear bumper...look directly below each tail light...there is a reflector on each side

with out maximas...since our tail lights don't wrap around the corner of the car, that is why we have reflectors on the sides of the rear bumper and on our tail lights for the rear part
