When do you get a tuneup?
When do you get a tuneup?
So I have 50k on my 2000 max. I bought it in February with 34k, and the previous owner never got a tune up.
At what point should I get a tune-up and service the transmission (fluid?). I am not sure if the car needs one b/c nothing seems wrong. I just don't want the transmission or any belts in the car to go. Any suggestions, or experience?
Thanks

Things I've been doing myself:
1) Change oil and filter every 3K to 4K miles
2) Change air filter every 15K miles
3) 2 to 3 transmission fluid drains & refills across two weeks every 15K to 20K miles
4) Rotate tires every 8K to 10K miles
5) Fuel injection cleaner every 15K miles
6) Spark plug change every 60K miles
7) Keep her nice and clean every 1 to 2 weeks
Things I've had done to the car:
A) Changed the rear brake pads by a mechanic friend
B) New set of tires to replace the stock Toyo Proxes at WheelWorks
C) Wheel alignment at Firestone
D) Multiple wheel balances at WheelWorks
E) Added a front strut tower bar myself
F) Added a rear anti-sway bar myself
My mechanic will soon change out my rotors and brakes, and I'll probably get around to flushing out the cooling system.
I haven't gone in for a formal 'heres-my-wallet-so-rip-me-off' tune-up at a Nissan service department yet as I have not had the need. The car still runs beautifully with almost 72K miles on her. I figure I'll bite the bullet when the car hits between 100K to 120K and take it for the ultra-expensive full service treatment at Nissan. By then, some parts may show enough wear and tear to warrant replacement by them.
Peace.
