problems with 2003's

i am new to this site and i was wondering what are some of the most common problems that people are having with the 2003 maxima's? i, so far only have the high revving problem when the car is first cranked and hopefully will only have this problem. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks from a new member.

Here are some known technical service bulletins for the '03 Maxima:

If want the different '02 TSBs, just go here:

http://www.alldata.com/TSB/0241_mo.html

Those TSBs address common issues with some Maximas, and the cars are usually fixed free of charge at a Nissan service department if they can verify the problem.

Peace.

thanks for the info. i really appreciate it. fortunately my car hasn't experienced any of those problems. so far my car has been rock solid with the exception of it revs high when i first crank it. you have any clues as to what this is? thanks

Would you elaborate on that more? The way i understand your post, seems to me that your engine is just trying to warm up.

no, it will only rev up high when i first crank it and then the motor will go back to normal rpm's. it only revs high for a second or two.

you sure you don't have your foot on the gas pedal as your cranking?

or would something be causing the gas pedal accelerator to go down causing the high rev's??

On a cold day, after I cranked up the car, the engine revs at around 1200 rpm. After driving it for 30 seconds, it idles at around 600. I think this is normal.

My only complaint is with the slight hesitation (half second) at acceleration, for which there is a TSB. When I have time, I will bring the car to the dealer to check out. I think the dealer knows about this, as I have been told to bring the car for them to test drive.

Check the TSB for engine rattle. That sound like your problem.
