i did a test run of the installation today and managed to take off the airbox with the maf. I noticed that when I tried to take off the other part of the stock intake (the part that connects to the airbox, the scoop I think) it was attached to the boost sensor. I didn't see anything in the install instructions about what to do with the boost sensor. Any help is appreciated.

 

the air temp sensor in the scoop should have a plug that it fits inside of in the midpipe. take the rubber gasket with the sensor out of the scoop and put it in the midpipe. you might have to cut the tape that the sensor's wire are in so you have slack to put it in.

 

I know what to do with the atf sensor, but not the boost sensor. I've read other posts in the search about this, but no-one would respond to that question. I'm talking about the boost sensor not the atf.

 

perhaps your 2k is different than my 2k1 and most others ive seen. the only sensor that had to be relocated for my install was the temp sensor. the maf sensor was moved but reinstalled in the same location. you may have uninstalled something that was not necessary. could you provide a pic or description of the sensor?

sorry i cant be of any help. i just checked again and i dont have that sensor at least in that location. perhaps its another difference between fed and cali spec. edit- i found this thread because it had me curious. most everyone that commented had a 2k so i guess they relocated the boost sensor somewhere else or removed it.

Unscrew the sensor from the scope and zip tie it somewhere!!!

 

So do I take off this part of the intake too ("the scoop", http://punkdork.net/max/oscai/scoop.jpg and then tie down the sensor?

 

by the way on the topic when you install the franken car does the out side temp sensor actually work corectly after the new intake?

 

I left it as is on mine. I had the same problem. I just left the scoop on.
I did have one line that was left out when connecting the three breather lines. Do you have the same problem?

 

Yes, that's what I did. After you take that scope off. Take out the white box or whatever that is down there that's connected to this scope

 

Can I get more feedback from 2k owners on what they did in their frankencar install

 

installing a frankencar has no affect on the outside temp gauge. the air temp sensor in the scoop sends a signal to the ecu to relay air temp. the sensor for the ambient temp is located somewhere else, i believe below the grill but i could be wrong on that one.

 

I have the Frankcar with My scoop still attached I have the boost sensor too and I just left it on the scoop.

Whether you leave the scoop in or out is simply your choice. it offers minimal if any performance gain by leaving it in and it cleans the engine bay up even more by taking it out. so it's your choice. thanks.
