this is a question to those that got rid of their stock rims and went with lighter rims. how much does ur lightweight rims weigh? w/ tire? is there a noticable increase in speed, or is it very similar to stock

If you have the 50 pound per corner 17" rims then going to a much lighter setup will give a noticeable improvement. Noticeable meaning it will register on the butt-dyno and result in a tenth or three difference in 1/4 mile times.

This applies ONLY to 00-01 222HP DE-K engines. They don't seem to have the low-end torque to spin up those puppies. The 02-03 VQ35's are torque monsters though and don't seem to mind.

i went with lighter weight rims but i definately wouldnt consider them lightweight rims. my 17" wheel weighed 26 and my current ones weight 20. of course there is less unsprung weight but i did not notice a difference in everyday driving. i would bet running at the track before and after would have yielded some better results.

every 1 lb added to the rim = every 8 lb in the car.

One of these days I'm ditching my stock 17's, 'cause while learning clutch on this car, the lack of low-end torque (compounded by the heavy rims) caused me much grief (and embarrassing stalls )
