Maxspeed Springs - problems after less than a year
I got the springs last year, and for the last month I noticed something weird. I pulled out of a spot, turning all the way to the left, and heard like a "springing" sound. There doesn't look like there's anything wrong, but this is bothering me. Anyone else get this with aftermarket springs?

There are dozens of reasons... when you figure it out be sure to let us know.
I just noticed the same thing recently, i had maxspeed for about 1 1/2 yrs now with stock struts.
whenever i turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, i'll notice some kind of sound...kinda like griniding sound.....help

i had a popping noise when turning right with stock springs and struts. they replaced the driver front strut and the noise went away. it then began to happen with the passenger front so they replaced it as well. i didnt mind either repair since both were covered by warranty. i then replaced the springs with maxspeeds and struts with gr-2s. if you hear it at low speed turns when you turn almost to lock then most likely its a bad strut.

ditto. its only when i turn the wheel all the way to the left. mostly when im pulling into or out of a parking spot. though its more of a moaning/creaking sound. i have H&Rs on stock struts.
although, in the last couple days i stopped my car as i was pulling into a parking spot and i noticed whenever the steering wheel would hit the bump stop at its limit, it would make a metal clanging sound. i did it about 4 or 5 times consecutively.

Yup, mostly on a left hand turn here too .

Look under the car there is a 'stop' a plastic cap on the end of a fairly long bolt. The piece I am talking about is facing towards the back of the car on the steering knuckle. If you look towards the control arm you will see a curved piece and I believe it was the left side the plastic cap is missing, and it will rub and cause like a bad creaking sound. Go to Nissan and get one of those caps, they are very fragile and twist on, not push on. I found out the hard way.
Also on lots of 2Ks, the upper strut mount on the right side tends to go bad and make a rubberry-friction sound. I had mine replaced under warranty.

Spring pop noise comes from the spring binding and releasing as you turn your steering wheel. It's caused by improper spring seating in the upper perch, incorrect assembly of the spring & strut components or a sticky strut bearing.
The key is that the assembly lines up correctly, the spring compresses evenly and the whole assembly rotates freely on the strut bearing. I've seen Maxspeed springs rust up as well as sit slightly bowed after they have been compressed on the car.
Bottom line is YGWYP4, there a cheap spring, they ride like crap, they don't even give a nice drop. I have no clue why you guys like them.

everytime i cut the wheel hard it makes a popping sound
is that bad or good
same here, and i am starting to get lots of squeeks on roads that are far from perfect. the end cap is the source of the metal creeking in the left turn...mine is also missing the cap..2nd one now. the right side cap is also pretty close to going too. i don't recall if they charged me for the 1st replacement, but if they did it was a nominal charge. try the cap and some lithium spray grease and hit all the friction points and that should cure most of the probs, and protect you for the 1st part of the winter. hope that helped
i got the same prob, but if mine pops then my alignment goes way off, its deff the right front, both used to do it, but i took to back to my guys, they said they didnt sit right, im gonna go back again and get the last one set in right, third times a charm, im on stock struts with maxspeeds, anyone else with this setup getting a bouncy ride? i think i need new struts.
yeah...slightly bouncy. i need new struts though, so it is understandable. you may have tie-rod probs if you are getting your alignment all jacked up when you are turning to the stops...i agree something isnt right.
Stock setup here.
Same left turn under acceleration - grinding sound.
It's not even consistent - hot or cold.
It like that infernal Cam Chain grinding on the cold morning start-ups that Nissan says is "normal".
When I hit 36001 miles, I'm SURE it will be ABNORMAL.

I almost always prefer big brand-name stuff, but when enough people share their positive experiences, I definitely take that into consideration. In the end I got Maxspeeds and they gave me no problems or noises.
Only reason I got rid of the Maxspeeds is because I liked the look of the Tein drop more.

Well besides this incident (even thought it might not be related) im happy with the Maxspeeds. The drop is good for me. But about fixing that problem, im bringing my car in next week. What should I say? I don't want them to void the warrenty by saying "the springs caused the problem." Last time I brought the car in, he's like "why did you put all this stuff on the car...springs, strut bars" etc.

And chances are, a good percentage of people who do get the Coilovers never see track time in the life of their Maxima. And at that rate, they also probably never really experience the full capability of such setup.
