Im Buying A 5th Gen!

Well after a year of headaches with my 4th gen (bought one that was raped) I am a lot wiser now and have decided to buy a 5th gen..

I have a few questions to ask you guys:

1. Do 5th gens have horrible transmissions like 4th gens? (differential bearings, etc.)

2. What shocks are the best right now for 5th gens (illuminas for 4th gen)

3. Do you guys know if my progress springs (95-99) will somehow fit a 5th gen? (stupid question)

4. Hows the 5th gen maxima? - compared to a 4th?

Your replys will be greatly appreciated!

Wel first off you didn't say which year because that makes a huge differnce. I have a 2002 SE 3.5 Mamima and I love it. No problems with it yet. runs like a dream. 2000-01 are 3.0 w/ 222 hp and the 2002-2003 has a 3.5 w/ 255hp. As for shocks everyone on the org. has there own favorite. Go to the search http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?searchid=29883 and you should find past post. And if your springs will fit I'm not sure about that but someone on the org. would know that. I hope you enjoy your Maxima. When you look at which one you want to buy check the hood and sides for a lot of paint chips. Nissan has some ****ty paint. Hope this helps. PM me if you have any more question.

The progress springs will work if you match them up with the Modified AGX's from cattman. I was told by Tokico that the 5th gen Illuminas will be out by the end of the month

I'm sure you won't have a problem selling those springs on the org. or ebay. And as for the tranny, 2k2 & 2k3 have really good tanny's. I not quite sure about 2000-01. Go to the search and put in transmitions

The 2k and 2k1 5-speed manuals are just fine from what I gather, but the 2k2-2k3 6-speeds I've heard before can be very notchy...

2k1 AE 5-speed (can?) come with VLSD too, right?

Yes, the AE 5-speed had the VLSD standard.

I have a 5 Speed 2k1. I love it. Responsive, handles great, and always remember....

IT'S BEST IN 3RD GEAR! Takes off like a plane.

IMHO, the 2K1 AE has the best looking stock appearance (i.e.: front valance, side sills, rear skirt) out of all 5G Maximas. I wish I had that package on my 2K2.

Peace.
