Question for Guys with Aftermarket Struts.
Question for Guys with Aftermarket Struts.
Have any of you guys put the Factory Strut and Aftermarket Strut side by side to see if they are the same size. I'm thinking aftermarket Strut body should be a little shorter then factory body to keep the car from Bottoming out. I'm also thinking about cutting the bump stops, Maybe that'll give me some more spring/strut travel room. Right now the car just hits hard on bumps in the road with Teins and Factory sturts.
A shortened strut body would be ideal for lowering springs since it will give you additional travel. As it is, I think all aftermarket struts are the same size as stock since they are listed as direct OEM replacements.
As for the bump stops, I would definitely shave a coil off of each one if you are dropped on Teins... They will give you some extra travel in your suspension and hopefully get rid of the bumpiness at your suspension limits

Wonder how BMW and some of these other companies do their suspension. They have have travel room otherwise the dashboard would fall off before the car is paid off

teins will kill factory struts with a quickness....IMO you should've gotten new struts with those springs in the first place, that way u wont be paying double install charges
that is, unless you did it yourself, then its just double time wasted, but no labor charge
