GXE has:
Chrome door handles
Chrome badging
no "GXE" badge
red taillamps
chrome window and front grill trim

GLE has:
Auto
about $10K more than GXE
red taillamps
chrome badging
chrome window and front grill trim
colour coded exterior door handles (?)
GLE rear badge
oval chrome exhaust tip

SE has:
"black" taillamps
foglamps
rear deck spoiler
weird front end bars that aid in chassis stiffening (behind the front grill)
colour coded exterior door handles
white face guages
stiffer springs when equipped with factory 17s
"tinted" badging
colour coded window trim and grill trim
oval chrome exhaust tip

AE has:
A neato bodykit
"black" taillamps
"bronze" headlamps
foglamps
rear deck spoiler
colour coded handles
chrome interior door sills
chrome shifter

Is this mostly correct?? Excluding the optional stuff. I don't think you can get a SE without a rear spoiler...can you? otherwise... someone should make a complete list of things that are different between the trims and years...unless someone has done so and i'm just on crack...

the brochure for the Maxima has a pretty good list in the back specifications page. You just have to read through all the rows to dig em out.

I have my brochure somewhere... I'll have to find it.

only SEs come with body color door handles...for GLEs and GXEs, it's chrome...
GLEs come with standard BOSE, but on SEs, it's an option.
SEs springs are exactly same as the rest of Maximas. SEs come with stiffer shocks and stiffer bushings which give the car that 'sport' characteristics...

Chrome around windows

All Maximas now come with the chrome around the windows, even the AE. In the 4th Gen the SE had no chrome around the windows...GXE and GLE did.

Here is one. In the States there are 2 SEs, a base with cloth and base stereo and base heating / cooling and the C&C, no sunroof.

In Canada the SE is a 'sport' GLE.

In Canada the GLE comes with fogs.

The GXE can be had with rims and hubcaps I think.

There are no manual GLEs, only GLE and SEs have manuals.

The SE does not have chrome INTERIOR door handles.

I have never seen "weird front end bars that aid in chassis stiffening" before. For info sake if you have some pics it would be great.

But there is one thing that they all have in common, happy drivers!

Speed kills. Save lives, buy a Honda!

Are you talking about the 2 black bars that go from the center of the grill down towards each corner?

Now I have to hunt for someone with a front end shot of a G?E.

Thanks.

nissan's webpage has a good....

spec list. heres the link :http://www.nissandriven.com/frameset_maxima.html
just click on "SPECS" and then select one of the four models and what you want to compare, for example the interior, then a comparison chart will appear showing the differences between all the models, its really detailed.
