In light of all these car comparisons...

I figured i'd start my own thread here as well.

So, how do you guys think the 2004 Galant fare against our 5th gens?

The LS and GTS models come with the single-overhead cam, 3.8-liter V6. Output of the V6 is rated at 230 hp at 5,250 rpm and 250 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm, which makes the Galant one of the more powerful cars in the family sedan segment
...However, in the sheer kicks department, the Altima, with 245 hp, was noticeably faster and more responsive.

Don't know about you guys....but if you quickly glance at it, it almost looks like the 6th gen max.

Not well its funny the new TL looks like the current 00-03 Galant and this car favors the 04 Max. Quality/reliability wise it probably will be subpar as Mitsu doesnt seem to get it after all these years esecially with its engines .

Yeah i see the reference to a 6th if you look at the pic QUICK. Also pontiac for sure. All cars now look the same - I am swearing to you that BMW has borrowed the acura designers in their new 3 series pics i've seen (I think it was 3 series). And that saturn ion piece of junk looks a lot like an altima IMO.

If it handles anything like the 2 previous generations of Galants, it will outhandle the Max with relative ease, stock vs. stock.

It does resemble the 6th gen Max. The thing that caught my eye the most are the door handles, they're straight off of the 04 Max. The way the roof slopes in the back and front and the door windows look really similar also.

Short story of an experience I once had:
I used to work at Baker-Jackson Nissan in Houston when the 04's first came out. People used to come in and try to compare Hyundi's, Kia's, Saturns, etc... to all of the Nissan models, it was rediculous. A customer once said, "I don't know why the Murano is more expensive than the Hyundi Santa Fe. I think I'm going to go with the Santa Fe." I wanted to kick him in the nuts right there and throw him and his broken Elantra off of the lot. The Murano kicks **** with it's CVT and 245 HP, not to mention it handles as good as the stock Maxima. And that's one of the reasons I don't work there any more. I'm out!

IMO, it doesn't look significantly worse than the 4-door monstrosities that Nissan has been churning out lately. "Ugly" is the new black for car makers.

I'd say nobody will buy it, but all you have to do is stroll over to the 6th generation forum to watch "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" in action.

Not at all, just pointing out that (obviously) not everyone has the same taste. I'll never argue that the 5th gen's a## isn't fugly. Luckily, the only time I see that part of the car is when I wash it.

-take a real good look at the sloping roofline, window shape, door shape and rear slope, virtually verbatim
