E-brake question on a 6speed

Hey guys. I had a question. i have a 2k max auto and a 2k2 6 speed. This is my first manual tranny car. I was noticing that my ebrake had some play in it like 2 inches before it started to engage, while my suto engaged almost as soon as I started to lift the leavor... Is this normal for a manual ebrake?

I think I was the first one to post something about this a long time ago. No this is not normal for an ebrake but Yes it is normal for the 2k2/2k3 Maximas.

I have same prob....what you want to do is lift up the ebrake all the way. You will see that at the bottom there is a hole. In that hole is a nut you can tighten to give it less play

other than that issue, to confirm that your e-brake is funtioning correctly and fully disengaging, the FSM says that when you lift it and you hear it click once, at that point you should see the e-brake light on the dash light up. if it doesn't, then we're looking at a loose e-brake line.

just another way to look at it.
