Why is everyone cleaning the TB?
Why is everyone cleaning the TB?
From what I've read, most people have some CEL or worse happen shortly after cleaning the throttle body. I looked at mine today (2k2 with 30k miles) and there was some residue, but not much. Definitely not enough to make me wanna clean it with all the negative results happening to others. So, why should I clean it? What are the benefits?

Cleaning the TB is a maintenance item. It does not harm anything if done correctly.
It smooths out you idle, increases gas mileage and gives you better throttle response.
The whole process take about 15 minutes, why wouldn't you do it?
