I would have one hell of a time getting it to come off now. Besides I put it there because that was the same location it is on the stock grill.

First of all, let me say that the grill looks awesome!

I have a couple of questions: 1) does the main grill install over the factory grill, or do you have to remove it? 2) Where did you buy the Nissan emblem, and how does it attach to the grill? 3) For the lower grills, how do they attach, do they scratch the paint? 4) I have the rusted grill tech grills, do you think it would look good to only have the lower grills installed with the factory main grill? 5) Do they send instructions?

Sorry for the many questions, but it looks like something I might want to do, I just want to be sure. Thanx

1)You have to remove the stock grill, but it's a easy as removing (3) 10mm bolts on the top of the grille and then slowly pulling on the bottom part.
2)Go to your local Nissan dealer and ask for the rear emblem of the 02/03 Xterra total cost $14 and some change
3)They just fit in front of the exsisting grille. If you look the stock grille it's indented about a 1/2 in. It won't scratch the paint because it has rubber surrounding the edges. It fits very snug.
4)I've seen it done and it doesn't look that bad, but I prefer both.
5)No, I went to PMAS76's cardomain page http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...224200&page=15.

Yeah it's got a real sticky side with plastic cover over the tape. Remove the plastic and your ready.

Also, I thought I saw on the 00-01's, people putting these grills over their stock grills? Correct me if I'm wrong?

The grille is pretty sturdy, but yes it would now make it real easy for theives to get in to take your headlights. All they have to do is stick something through the mesh grille and pry the hood open. For 02/03 you have to remove the upper grille, but not the bottom.

Everyone please remember to tell JMS that you are a Maxima.org member, and that you know me (Jeremy). This helps with our reputation to get him to make future grilles for us, as well as maybe even setting up a GD, etc.

Secondly, the grille is made of aluminum. It will not ever rust.

Third, JMS recommends HIGHLY that you get the Nissan HID Anti-Theft kit for your vehicle. The hood can be opened very easily even with the stock grille. This grille, as with Street Scenes, Trendz, and the others, make it easier to open as well.

The logo is available at your local Nissan dealer. Just ask for the emblem off the back of the 2002-2003 Xterra.

As for durability... I hit a small animal the other day, and dented the lower grille. It was indented about one inch on the driver's side. When I got home, I grabbed some needle-nose pliers and pulled the dented section right back out. There were no visible bends, etc, where the had been bent and was bent back to it's original shape. So, I guess that the reliability is even higher than expected for those practice road-kill courses.

There are pictures of the grille on my Majestic Blue 2002 on my web-site.

1BADMAX: Kickin... I like it on yours the same way I liked it on mine when I first got it.

Well at least yours fits...I had the JMS grills and the fit was terrible on the top and the bottom. Not to mention the fact that for $150 you don't even get loops to attach the zipties to on the top, you have to go inside the pattern itself. But it looks good on your car.

I've had my JMS forever...can't say enough about it. I used to have grille tech lowers, but they rusted away. I haven't replaced them with the JMS, but the silver looks great!

You know I love your car Volkl...

As for the lowers, I like the 2 piece design better than the 1 piece, although a rusted 2 piece Grille-Tech looks pretty ghey too...

Yeah, a rusted grille doesn't do much for the car.

I like the idea of two piece as well...but I doubt if I'll do anything to the lowers this time...you won't be able to see the black on a black car, so no point really.

Are the Grille-Tech's really that bad?? I have a set of upper and lower grilles for my '02 that I've had for a couple of weeks, haven't installed yet. I bought some RustOleum Clear Coat paint as a preventative measure, but I'm starting to regret getting them after seeing a few of these posts.

You can put any emblem you want in there...looks like he took the emblem off the stock grille, which IMO is a little big.

As for cost...well, I paid for the grilletechs and they lasted through one rainy portland winter...so I had to pay for the jms the second time around. Now that is expensive!!! Shoulda just done jms the first time.

The emblem is from the back of the 02/03 Xterra's. It's the same size of the stock.

Everyone who likes this grill should get in on the group deal that studman set up in the GD forum. The savings are great. The deal ends on the 30th. We need 10 to get the discount. So everyone go over there and sign up, I did.

Although I would like to take credit for starting that GD. It was Studman that did it, so thank him. Either way it's a nice grille and it's worth buying. So yeah everybody go and get in on the GD. Then we can start the JMS grille club.

I went with the smaller emblem off of custommaxima.com...the size you find on the older cars....fits my ride better.

why does 1BADMAX grill look more contured to the cars lines than studmans? Studman's grill looks flat...

Guess I'll have to seriously consider that JMS GD before I even get the GrilleTechs installed.

DrVolkl & Triple8Sol - just noticed today you're both in my home state. How are things in the great northwest these days?? I grew up in Snohomish, moved out in '92. Miss it big time.

My JMS looked more like Studman's when I had it. Like I said...not trying to hate on JMS or anything...but I had serious issues with the build quality and especially fitment with the JMS grill. IMO this shouldn't happen when you pay $80+ per grill.
