A different style idea - no actual mods....

Ok, I know this willnot appeal to the racers here, since it slows the car down a little, but for those of you who have "other" hobbies (i.e. biking, ski/snowboard, kayak, surf, etc.), I find that a Thule (or Yakima or other) roof rack gives some originality/style to the maxima without having to change the car itself visually.....this is the third car I've had the rack on, and believe me, women notice the max more with the rack and a painted fairing...my female acquaintances say its because they are more interested in a guy who does things (like biking, skiing, etc.), and the rack shows that. I repaint the rack and fairing periodically, and it's also a good place to put stickers that you don't want to put on your car itself....also, you don't have to put a trunk rack on for your bike or stick your snowboard in the the trunk with the seats down...This is the rack off my 92 Accord EX coupe i just traded for the Max last summer...need to repaint it though! sorry its a bad photo, I'm new at this web stuff....hope this works.

not sure how to shrink you pic, but i am a snow skier. i think some cars look better with racks on top but i just choose to use my pass through for the trunk to take my skis and they are 198 so they arent small but they dont get in the way. the most ive take with skis and luggage was 3 people. 4 pushes it w/luggage and interior space. as for my mountain bike, i just remove the front wheel and it fits in the trunk.

Anyhow...that was my firstpost on this site...it was the only subject I could think of that isn't in here 20 times already....btw...you need to change to shaped skis....i work weekends at a ski shop - and there's a lot of good new stuff out there. but that's for a different forum, i suppose/

here... please delete that other picture

there should be some sort of "resize" option in your graphics software... try that and make the picture about 500 pixels wide

and you can play around with brightness/contrast/hue/light settings/etc to get a slightly better view of the rack, but a better idea would be take the picture during the day

Doctor...notice the Volkl sticker on my rack...724 Ax3 and P50 platinum...money. Would take rack on/off, but bike's on the roof at least 2x a week (or skis in winter) so it's not worth it. Money rims, btw.

Yeah, I really like the paint job on the wind deflector...that's pretty damn tight.

i always wonder about living up north and what i would do but damn i guess i would have to bite the bullet and do this. i am just worried if you leave it on it will rub on the paint like the sunroof wind deflector

I have had this same rack on my Acura and Honda previously, and it didn't leave any significant marks on the roof of the car....I had them on each car for 4 years w/out coming off, and the only thing was a little of distinction where paint faded, but that rubbed off fine with a good hard waxing job...gotta make sure you get a quality rack though with custom-fit feet adn mounts and tighten it down real good so it doesn't move at all...I suggest Thule, they fit the most precise and are thebest quality...second place goes to Yakima (which rust easy) and Barrecrafters (which are cheaper)...fairing can be painted by priming it and using automotive spray paints from trak auto or something....then put a clearcoat on and it won't fade or scratch...I repaint mine every year or so when I get bored of the old colors....
