without doing any major stripping of the car and going forced induction, how could I achieve 14.0 in 1/4 mile?

with the setup below im guessing 14.5 in 1/4 mile?

NA I highly doubt you'd be able to pull a 14 flat, despite the modifications.

 

14.5 IMO yes it can but 14 flat N/A don't really think so!!

 

Let say you add Intake, Exhaust, Headers, Crack ECU, cam or engine re-work
then it is definitely possible, time to break the piggy bank.

try removing everything u can out of the car, liek the spare, the seat, go with only 1/4 tank o gas, get some light rims and really good tires...then u might be close.

you'd have a hard time doin that - take LOTS of stuff out of car, toss on every bolt on, get drag slicks, and then you could probly hit 14 flat. slicks would let you launch real fast

 

You'd need every NA mod under the sun including some lightening stuff and probably slicks. I doubt you could pull it off on street tires. 00-01's are not the best 1/4 mile cars. Too heavy and not enough torque.

 

Swap in a VQ35 short block with some race gas to handle the 11.3:1 CR and you'll have it.

 

You would need: intake, all exhaust, suspension, Slicks!!, make the car lighter (take out seats, spare, all trash, carpet, go on a diet) and good track conditions (like 50mph down wind would help) and the you might get a low 14....lol good luck

 

What does your car run now?

 

I say it is very possible with engine work. I do not think the throw of the pistons is different between the VQ35 and the VQ30. this could mean that you could get your engine boared out and blue printed. also a nice port and polish of the heads would be nice. i think with an exhaust system and intake and all this engine work(plus steelies and slicks) you could easily make high 13's. it is all about the engine work.

 

Get some lighter rims and learn to drive. Launching your car will take some serious practicing and clutch work and gas modulation. Plus you have to shift right at the fuel cut off which takes practice. The 3.0 5th gen are lacking some tq to pull you out of the hole. Once in 2nd just bang the gears at fuel cut off.

If you had an intake - headers - b-pipe and TechSquare chip it might be possible.

PS not too many 2k-2k1 5spds have been to the track. But many have pulled in to the 14's and one as low as 14.3 so it might be possible. Start practicing!

oh sorry i thought they had the same stroke. still there has to be some way to bore the engine out. what piston could be used? still stand by the port and polish of the heads.
