Teins with 19s

If I dropped my max with teins...and threw on some 19x8 axis hagens with 245/35/19 tires...would I rub??? How close would I be and how would it ride...would having stuff in the trunk and people in the car be dangerous???

Same tire/rim size & springs you're considering. It's perfectly fine...

No rub. Stiff.

If you search, you'll find tons of posts/threads discussing the ride quality...

I have the same exact setup Tein drop and 19's no problem at all. I could use a spacer in the back but other than that it looks and rides perfectly.

I have the same set up. I doesn't rub at all, but the ride with the Tiens is not one for somebody that lives in an area with broken or poorly maintained roads...I haven't pulled mine back off yet, but it is coming...

what will make the bigger difference in ride quality...18s with 245/40/18 tires instead of 19s with 245/35/19 tires or tein springs vs a softer spring like maxspeed or progress???

I live in the city and roads are not the best.

The wheels/tires combo will make more difference, I think. Some people are dropped with Teins, keeping stock wheels, and they're liking their ride.

I have to disagree with this, personally. I have a tire more suited to winter driving mounted on my stock 17" wheels(tire has same specs as the stock tire, probably a softer sidewall, though, which should help more) and the ride is only "slightly" less jarring than the ride with my 19's on it. The Teins are a very stiff spring and there is not a shock replacement for the 2002/2003(unless the new Tokico Illumina's are actually available, they may do the trick) that is capable of fully damping out the rate of the Teins. However, the look with the Teins is INCREDIBLE!! Nissan should have set the cars at this ride level from the factory!!!

I got about...8K miles on my tires, I got both tires & teins the same week and the wear is even as it gets. No camber kit/bolts required.
245/35/19s are most probably up next if I dont get a system in next. I just dont justify getting rims unless the tires are nearly gone. Im sure the AVS ES100's have a good 10k+ left in them so I got a while to go...maybe Ill get the system

Yoogie,

I see that you have Teins and KYB GR-2. Your ride should be smooth. Did you forgot to trim the bumpstop? Have you ever considered a coil-over system?

I don't say this often, but all these suspension/tire questions are answered countless times through SEARCH...

There's no reason to trim them, despite Tein stating otherwise. I left mine alone and the ride is superb...not bouncy.

Nah, I haven't considered doing anything else to the suspension on this one. The only other mods this car will be considered for are the Cattman Y-pipe/B-pipe and the ECU retune. The Teins just need a shock with more rebound damping and they would be awesome, IMO. I think the Illumina's, if really available, may be the trick...If not, I will most likely put the stock springs back in at some point.......Yeah, right!!! Everytime I think about the wheel gap and see the Tein drop, that idea goes out the window!!

^^ I have the Teins w/ Blues and so far they are great! The ride is almost stock with OEM wheels on. I cant say much for the way the car handles even with my old JIC setup, so the Teins dont really improve it that much.

I got the same setup on mine, Teins/Toks. As for the ride being on par with stock...I dont think so. The car doesnt bounce but you can feel most all the bumps in the road. Even though the spring rate isnt over 300+ its still somewhat stiff. The handling isnt drastically improved, but coming from a 100% stock setup you'll definetly notice it. It wears off and leaves you wanted more after 2-3weeks though but hell im not complaining, its plenty stiff for my taste.

Dude there is no way in hell that teins are the same ride as stock. NO WAY no matter what shocks your are using. You can feel every bump and some are bone jarring.

Anyone who says Tein are close to stock on city roads/bumps is crazy straight up. With 19's must be annoying.

^^ The thing you must understand is I'm coming from a JIC setup before my Teins. So TO ME the Teins ride so much nicer than the JIC full coilovers. I'm saying close to stock because compaired to other vehicles I've owned/driven in that were lowered this one with these shocks/springs is much more OEM like. I understand you feel more bumps but the Tein springs are made to lower the car to make it look better. Thats it, if you want a harsh ride or improved handling buy the a set of full coilovers.
