Goodbye Nissan

I have been a longtime fan of Maximas. I have owned five -- '88, '92, '95, '98 and an '02. I awaited the '04 release with great anticipation, only to have my dreams shattered.

I cannot see paying over 30 thousand for a Maxima anymore. Not that I have yet, but it sure seems I would this time. What don't I like? The transplanted Altima dash, tires from hell, a turning radius bigger than an SUV, cheap plastic from the ***** factory, shift throws longer than an oar stroke, and enough torque steer to put more than a few people in the ditch. Not to mention that I cannot get Majestic Blue with the options I would want.

I'm done financing Nissans rise from the ahes of bankruptcy. Don't get me started on the dealer network -- What hesitation? What paint chip? What sensor? Duh. It's called using quality parts guys.

I think the new daily driver will be the Acura TL. Handsome car, 270 horses -- not so rudely delivered, nice interior, better resale, for the same money. So it may be slower, big deal. How often do I try to beat the guy next to me?

Just so you don't think I'm just a nutcase. I'm mid 30's, MBA educated, hold an SCCA license, own an '03 M5, and run 911's at Elkhart Lake track in meets. If you guys are going to compare Maximas against BMW, use the 5 series please. The 3 series are smaller, and made for wannabes.

I wish the rest of you luck.

You have an M5, why would you want any other car?

I think the Maxima is a great car, and I love mine, but that's relatively speaking. For the price I paid for my '03 SE, it's a really good value.
I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay $30k+ for a Max either...

I hear you, my friend. About 3 months ago I was considering the purchase of an '04 Maxima. After driving one, I too decided that $33,000 for an American Assembled car is just WAY the Heck too much. So I searched online and waited for an '02 or '03 to pop up with the 6-speed MT. Today while I was running errands, I passed by a black '04 going the opposite way. That is the most stupid looking front clip I have ever seen. I like the rear but the front just looks like junk. Kinda like a minivan... like the Quest minivan!

Thank God I found the car I was looking for in the '02 with the MT and in Majestic Blue. And, it was half of original sticker price. Hey, I'll trade a few door dings and a couple of rock chips for $16,000 ALL FREAKIN' DAY LONG!!

As for me. I'll keep my '02, put a million miles on her and maybe by then, our government will have figured out public transportation.

Just my $.02.

Me too man

I have a 98 and a 00, and that's it.

NO MORE MAXIMAS FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.

With the 04, Nissan put the dagger in. The 04 Maxima has the most stupid looking front end on a $30k plus car. And let's not even talk about the interior. Someone from above said the plastick is from the ***** factory

My new car most likely will be a 04 TL.

Oh by the way, I just started working at the Acura dealer as a salesman!!! I have now gone beyond the point of no return. NO MORE NISSANS.

The 04 TLs are super nice. The interior is unbelievable, especially at night. I cannot resist the urge to get one. I can get me a TL at invoice, but as for the rest of you all, MSRP. sorry, hahaha!

Nissans can be nice... i.e. Skyline, Z , G35(yea it's a nissan) and so on... and for the oogliness of the 04 maxima just look at most other cars these days, they all look like crap and they are made like crap as well. It's all about cutting cost, and making us buy more !!!

I did..... I bought my 2k2 SE at the end of October 2001, which brings my mind to my car's 2nd anniversary!

I'm thinking what I should get for Maxine.

PS: BMW M5? What's that? LoL. J/k. Nice car, I want one!

I love my Max but when I took a ride in my friends M5 it made me feel as my Max was not worthy. Great car.
