I think they are all the same. No tranny will hold up the way you drive

Well between 4th gen and 5th gen supposeably Nissan changed two gears & some synchros to stronger pieces on the AE 2001 edition. Don't know if that was done for the 2K model though.

i dunno...but i would hope that the 3.5L has the best tranny..whether it can deal with the power compared to the 3.0L and its tranny is a different story.
Less power is better for the tranny.

Well... Considering I learned to drive stick on my 2k1 5 spd tranny, and the fact that I've put 15000 miles on it since the turbo, AND I missed 4th the other day and hit 2nd, which is absolute hell on a tranny..... I would say mine has been pretty damn strong, and I'm running pretty good boost too... 10psi. :P

IIRC, 2002 6 speeds had more tranny failures in the first year per 100 units vs. the 2003 6 speed...

But I could be wrong. I might be thinking of an entirely different car...I just remember parts of what I read.

My 2k2 is starting to slip @ 25K miles. This started as soon as i replaced 5 quarts of tranny fluid with Amsoil synthetic ATF.

George, not sure if u can just replace the most accessible part of the fluid. I think u need to do a fuel drain. I doubt the OEM fluid and syntec can be mixed

Maybe, but I was told by the mechanic that a partial change was OK, and to do it every 20k miles. I know that for the engine oil you can get 'synthetic blend' which has both regular and synthetic oil.

P.S. My tranny slips more on colder days. I'm thinking that synthetic sux for the cold weather.

Clutch vs. Tranny??

I have an 02 6spd w/ 15kmiles....and i SWEAR the clutch is starting to get grabby. Especially in stop and go --

I'm thinking the Clutch on these things is the Weakest Link.

I've been driving stickshifts since I was 14, so I know I'm not "abusing" my clutch (did that when i was 16!).

I'm going to keep my feelers on it, and maybe go to the dealer if it continues to get worse.

I installed the Amsoil tranny lube at 10k, but if I can't remember if the clutch and final drive share the fluid bath??? Am I being an idiot??...probably.

Anybody else having CLUTCH issues???

i had clutch issues at 30K miles on my 01 se. the tranny just started slipping. i took it in and they replaced everything but they made me pay for a new clutch b/c it is a wearable part. i thought that was BS but it was like $90 and they replaced all the other stuff around it to. I did not have to pay for labor so i was like *** it. it should of got a different clutch put in there but O'well

00 :-)

I put about 88,XXX HARD town miles on the Max gle. I started doing to drop resistor mod just at 80K miles. The transmission had faulty 2-3 shift solenoids but still showed no signs of going. For those who have read my race stories, I do stuff to my car that most SANE owners wouldn't do But its totalled by a driver who didn't watch where he/she was going

I plan on buying a 94 neptune blue SE auto with 97,XXXX miles for $2,400 from a private owner around my area. I hope its as strong as my 00 and hopefully there is a sensor to unplug for a drop resistance
