Speed limiter removal rumour - true or false?

Is there any other way to kill the speed limiter in a 2000 SE Auto without either getting a reprogrammed ECU or an RSM? I was told I can cut a wire, but I fail to see what I can cut unless I just disconnect the speed sensor or something lol...

The reason I want to do this is that my blasted 2000 Auto SE is heading back to Mosport next weekend, and the back straight will peg me stuck at 130mph.. unless I can somehow get past it (and I'm trying to be cheap - I'm at the point where I'd like to stop spending so much money on the max, lol).

I think you can just cut the speed sensor wire going to the ECU. It is a pink wire with a blue stripe. You should still have your speedometer, but no cruise... wire up a switch to it if you want.

This will trigger a check engine light... The RSM speed limiter cut function uses this same wire... you cut the wire and tap it into the RSM and then feed the RSM output to the ECU. RSM triggers no CEL this way
