THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED!! UGHHHHHH!!!

Ok, I'm driving down the road cruising nicely at 30mph. The car is cruising in 3rd gear. I give it some gas and it downshifts to 2nd and goes to 2000rpms in a blink of an eye, then about 1-2seconds later, the gear slips and the rpm's rise to about 2,600-2,800rpms and then slams back into 2nd gear and accelerates. Since this happened only 3 times and I can't seem to duplicate the incident, chances are the dealer isn't going to get it, too! I think I'll just wait for gear 2 to go out so THEN the dealer will know there IS a transmission problem. It only happens in this gear and no other gear. Is there is TSB for 2nd gear slip? I know there is one out for 1-2slow shift. Does this apply? This is sad because my transmission shifts so firm and quick. CAN'T NISSAN GET THE TCM/SELENIODS RIGHT?

The updated TSB from December 2000 states the problem exists in 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. All you need to do is find a repeatable way to exhibit either 1-2 or 2-3 shift slipping. The TSB is supposed to fix any slippage, at least that's how I interpret it.

the new TSB only mentions 1 to 2 shifts or 2 to 3 shifts. It doesn't mention anything about 3 to 2 downshifts. But I want to know if this still would be included in the TSB?

Thanks PunkDork for the TSB pictures!

I only faxed it... Paul was the one who scanned n uploaded it.

Good luck with your tranny. Remember you have like 5 years to get it to fall apart although I would start taking it in. Get a paper trail started.

It's not a 3rd to 2nd downshift slip. If the car downshifts into 2nd gear, THEN does the bang/slip BACK into 3rd, it's (in my interpretation) followed in the TSB as a 2nd-3rd slip, no? Take the TSB in hand as we all have done and get your little butt to the dealer and just be nice. They like to think they have the upper hand and know better than you, so let them believe that as long as they fix it for you. The longer you wait, the more likely it is you'll start getting shavings and need more than just a TCM and solenoid....new tranny
