hi im 17 and i just bought a grey lustre 2000 maxima GLE

i was just wondering what type of mods i should get for appearance.

i really want tints for my car but i wanna avoid getting pulled over by cops.

any help would be appreciated.

the tint law in nyc is 35% and up is good to go. Any thing under 20% is illegal. since you are 17 I would not advise you to lower than 35 because you are going to be harases by cop , esp in nyc.

 

sweet car for a 17yr old! well i guess im only 19 with a 2k1 but anyways... intakes are always good, I got the frankencar and really enjoy it, that was my first. I want to get a tint now.

 

Injen also makes an intake for your max. THeres really soooo much you can do (intake, exhaust, grilles, ground effects, tints, etc..). its really up to you

 

it all depends on how much you have to spend. i got my 2000 SE in july and now after 4 months i have little mods that make the car look clean in my opinion , i have the a/e chrome door sills, the chrome rings from paradox , i have the clear side markers all around i bought h3 and h4 for the bulbs for the headlights and fog lights. i also got my levoc chrome /carbon fiber shifter but i haven't installed it yet. little by little is how im doing it.

 

Definatly go with tint, maybe clear corners. Performance stuff that's fairly easy, check my sig. Go to cardomain.com and look at some of the maximas. there are plenty of ideas. happy modding

 

I would get some lowering springs!
def. makes the car look tight, once its dropped...
won't look like a 4x4 anymore

 

Get the 2000 Aniversary aero kit installed on that thing. They have them in every color the max for the year 2000. That would be the best thing to start off with and then go for some other upgrades like rims, tires and intake.

 

Hey, I also just got a 2000 Maxima SE for my first car (im also 17). Where can i get that aero kit? is that the same as the Stillen one? Im kinda new to cars in general and a total newbie when it comes to Maximas.

yea when i was 17 i had a 2k1 galant i did all appearance...fart can...eibach coilovers...and 18 in rims that came wit some cheap *** tires......then i crashed it....now that i am 18...and a lot wiser i realized that with all of that crap it doesnt mean a damn thing...and the first time i realized it was when some dude in a 2k max smoked me....then a month later i hydroplaned into a tree acting like i was initial d or sumthing...now that i got the max im goin all out...seriously man price is no option....quality is number one....there are a lot of *******s out there who are making cheap quality products...and the sad part is that people are actually buying them...i was one of them and where did it leave me...tru u get can get more b itches with the rims and neons and all that ****...but even better than that is when u pull up to a *** like that with a sleeper max and smoke the **** out of him....well at least that gets me excited...so i understand that u watched 2f2f and want to jump a bridge wit a 80000 skyline....but no wait that was the worst movie ever....hope my advice helps man...dont be a homo ricer...but hey maybe ull learn when someone smokes u cause the only thing all that crap is doing is weighing u down....i love my 2k3 max...galant R.I.P.

 

Go only for performance, and looks wil come, tint being the exception, get tinted the max cries out for it. If your going to do suspension, do it right get a set of coilovers, best thing i have ever done was put the JIC's on my car. Sits low and handles like no other. I can't imagine what it will do when i get some decent tires on this thing.

 

If you want a tint, get it 35% but I think you should get inake.

 

I say get tint, then an intake, y-pipe, and b-pipe. That way the only time people hear your engine is when you floor it. trust me they will here nothing but a deep deep growl. then they will **** themselves b/c they are scared. LOL ..j/k but i do like how there will be no drowning and only power constantly on tap. if you are going to get the exhaust stuff go with www.cattman.com. it is expensive but the others suck. trust me i have bought the others and regret it. after that you can buy some clear corners and what not.

 

All I need are clear corners, intake/y-pipe, & springs/shocks and I'm good to go.
