Brake Pads
#2
In my experience, if you drive mostly freeway and don't tend to hit the brakes hard, the OEM front brake pads should last around 75K to 80K miles. I just replaced my front pads and I'm at 75K, and my mechanic said I could've gone another 5K or so miles. My OEM rear pads wore away faster than the fronts and needed to be changed around 35K miles.
OEM pads will run you about $50 to $55 per set. You can get them from a local Nissan dealer, www.courtesyparts.com, or from DaveB on this site (he works at a Nissan service department).
Or your dad can switch to aftermarket pads. Porterfield, Axxis, Bendix, Raybestos, Sumitomo, and others make pads that can be applied to our Maximas. Some cost less, some cost more than the OEM pads. Do a search to see what pads your dad may want.
Peace.
